NWA A330 at BRU yesterday?
Hi,
Yesterday (26/01) I noticed something special on Airliners.net:
Due to foggy weather conditions at Schiphol, a NWA A330 would be diverted to BRU. Anyone more information on that?
Kind Regards
Capt

According to Schiphol's website:
Arrivall
5:50--NW 0040......Brussels......
5:50--NW 0040......Detroit........
5:50--NW 0040......Frankfurt.....
a/c: A330
This flight didn't land in AMS. Possibly diverted to Frankfurt or/and Brussels
But:
7:30--NW 0068......Detroit......12:54
7:30--NW 0068......Brussels....12:54
This flight landed in AMS, after a stop in BRU.
But, those 2 flights to Detroit were both departed from AMS. Maybe the passengers of flight NW 0040, went of the plane in BRU, and took the bus to AMS, and the plane flew later to AMS.

If it depends on the weather its certainly a yessn26567 wrote:Is that the future of BRU: A diversion airport for its big neighbours FRA, LHR, CDG and AMS ?
For instance today we had a A340 of China Eastern diversion of Paris CDG,
so an old face back again

I saw one of the NW's yesterday (N804NW). I was at the 02 spot, together with Paul Jongeneelen and Tommy Desmet. Too bad I wasn't able to take a picture, because my camera was repaired by Minolta but it still had the same problem
So I still have a broken camera
Anyway, this are the pics made by Paul Jongeneelen:

It seems like I've always bad luck with NW @ BRU. Another time, some months ago, I was at the wrong runway to spot them
Regards, Robin Bamps.

I also hope they'll come to BRU one day.luchtzak wrote:Great NWA-pictures! Must become a regular visitor to Brussels!!
I'll keep dreaming
Since AMS is much more closer to the coast than BRU is they have more often lots of winds. This is why there are several diversion a year from AMS to BRU.Does BRU have better weather in general than AMS, CDG and FRA![]()
As far as CDG concerned, it's quite rare that there are diversion from Paris.
And FRA, well I can't remember when they had a diversion to BRU.... They have enough airports in Germany, which are closer than BRU and still far enough of FRA.

As a youngster stuck in the wilds of Manchester in the late 60's and early 70's divvies were the lifeblood of the wintertime. When very few aircraft had Cat3 ILS capability and fog hit the southast of England chaos reigned sometimes for a couple of days. Aircraft were scattered all over the UK and near Continent with passengers being bussed and trained to London when flight crews went "out of hours". It was all a bit hit and miss but if you were lucky many tens of aircraft would descend upon us as fuel levels became low from hours of holding and waiting for fog to lift. Sometimes we would receive exotics, others just a couple of BOAC VC-10's or 707's (sound exotic now!)
Unfortunately here in Belgium we cannot monitor ATC to get good advance warning of these events as we used to in UK but maybe some of our ATC'ers can post the odd message giving warning?
As to yesterday I was at AMS in the bl..dy fog but did see 2 A330 and 6 DC10 of NW so not too bad a result.

LOL, I was talking from a weather point of viewvflies wrote:When French ATC is on strike...Avro wrote: As far as CDG concerned, it's quite rare that there are diversion from Paris.
So not that rare... LOL
BUt doesn't the diversions from FRA go elsewher in GErmany than to BRUIndeed AMS & FRA have more fog (main reason for diversions), CDG is more or less the same as EBBR.
