Korongo Airlines: THE END

Re: Korongo Airlines
I have to admit that I'm not sure at all that we, B.Air pilots, are better trained than those flying all around Africa. I could even imagine that we are under trained...
But, still, for me it's quite normal to see Korongo black listed.

Re: Korongo Airlines
Because our sim sessions and our day to day operations doesn't match, for me, the operational needs to operate there, in Africa. More, As far as I see, the majority of our pilots are a bit "anesthesiated" by doing same destinations, all the time. You can add the fact that we cannot train ourselves enough on manual flight (disconnecting AP on final ILS, or a raw data sometimes doesn't garantee you to keep a high level of manual skills)...
Flying in Africa, for such operations, require specific needs. GOOD briefing of what we can expect is the minimum vital. Sim session to train all the unusual attitudes. Practice more Windshear and heavy rain approaches. Emphasize the vital need to say "NO we don't go for that". Alternates, where we can go...
Until now, nobody has received any briefing. They will send european pilots making BRU MAD BRU on a daily basis for african operations in an unsafe country (sorry but it's true), with a tropical weather.
Good luck...

Re: Korongo Airlines
Well indeed, if you want to operate in a certain environment, you need what is called 'route and sector competence': flying in Europe and being very competent at it, doesn't automatically guarantee you the same level of competence in a completely different environment like Central Africa for instance.
That's why under the Belgian CAA rules, any Brussels Airlines' captain going to fly for Korongo also needs to obtain such competence for the African sector before he's fully released, something which will be done while flying under supervision of a competent instructor there at first, but obviously you can only gain that once the line operations of Korongo start up and line training can start, so it's a bit of a weird remark to say they don't have it yet, I must say, as sector competence can not be obtained by attending a briefing alone....
Other than that, I'd be reluctant to question the training standards at Brussels Airlines or in fact any other European airlines: all type rating programs and recurrent training courses are fully approved by European Civil Aviation Authorities, with audits and supervisors joining certain sessions on an 'ad hoc' basis, and they are all based on manufacturer's training courses too.
In contrast, most airlines in Central Africa don't even do any simulator training at all and thus have never trained something basic as an engine failure on departure for instance... they may be de facto 'competent' as to the area they operate in all right, but their failure management skills, even the most elementary ones, I wouldn't dare to bet a single cent on, personally....

You are probably pilot, and you know exactly that you are lying when you said that. No one pilot can receive an FAA aircraft type qualifaction without fully complying all test, same as yours. But in Korongo, your post holders are very limited in competence. Do you think that your CEO can comply with the accountable manager as defined in IOSA standards ? I have nothing against the gay, and I am not homophobia, but in aviation you have there a big problem.

Since when do pilots need a current FAA license to fly for an airline in the RDC?Allardlecon wrote:You are probably pilot, and you know exactly that you are lying when you said that. No one pilot can receive an FAA aircraft type qualifaction without fully complying all test, same as yours.
They don't, just as they don't need a current JAR license...
I can tell you many real world stories of crews flying for 'respectable airlines' from the RDC holding no current FAA or JAA license, just an RDC license issued on the basis of a foreign license long expired since and who now even operate on a plane they were never trained on. For instance: DC-9 trained, yet flying the 727 now due to staffing problems etc...
Oh, well they are just acting as pilot non-flying then, so that's fine!
Believe me, this is normal practice in the RDC, but hey, they know the airports right?

Besides, embarrassing nickname you have... your version of an insider's joke, I assume?
Seems insults are part not only of your nickname, but also your general attitude towards people: as such it is probably not worth asking you recall your remark that I am a liar even, although I still do...

We discovered that allardlecon and congolaise are using the same IP adress, same person ? Both members have been warned, not complying to the forum rules ( https://www.aviation24.be/rules ) will result in a ban from the website!
Furthermore we like to keep the focus in this topic about aviation!! And about the subject and in this case it's the Korongo airlines startup in RDC!
I will ask the moderators to have a closer look on this topic and I suggest to our members to use the 'report a post'-button whenever a message is not approriate/doesn't comply to the forum rules.

That some avoid to behave like that picture would also be appreciated.
I agree the topic is aviation.
But aviation without respect will not work.
So GOOD LUCK to all of you.

Can't resist quoting a real aviator's forum:
As these are anonymous forums the origins of the contributions may be opposite to what may be apparent. In fact the press may use it, or the unscrupulous, or sciolists*, to elicit certain reactions.

They are already operating, but this is a secret ... Top secret file !
Re: Korongo Airlines
on what kind of source is your info based ?
if you mean that the planes are flying around, that's normal .. they're still operating for Brussels Airlines ...

Any pics of the Korongo business class?
Re: Korongo Airlines
OO-LTM was flying yesterday from BRU to AGP and back but left almost 2hours too late due to technical problems.

Re: Korongo Airlines
LTM operated CDG, LIS, and AGP the last three days.
Re: Korongo Airlines
How many seats has OO-LTM now (economy and business)? I assume the leg room in economy is increased compared to the Virgin/SN period?
Has the BAe also business seats or just economy? And how many seats, same as it always was?
