I presume both. The "old" terminal can be adapted (quick searation system!)
And (I fly from BRU and CRL) about the friendly or not... i never has problems in CRL.
In BRU some language problems (I speak normally french) with some guys (Police, security but not the entire group of workers)

Brussels South Charleroi Airport Wins Anna.Aero Prize

The Airline and Airport Route News & Analysis website www.anna.aero yesterday awarded Brussels South Charleroi Airport with the €URO ANNIE Prize 2011 in the category “Airport Traffic Growth Award 5-10 Million”, a category reflecting the airport’s outstanding 32% growth that led to almost 5.2 million registered passengers in 2010.

Jean-Jacques Cloquet, CEO of Brussels South Charleroi Airport, commented “We are delighted by receiving this €URO ANNIE PRIZE and we thank the airlines operating at our airport for making this happen! The €URO ANNIE Prize concerns a fair and objective comparison between the traffic registered in 2009 and in 2010. This fully transparent process rewards the airports that achieved most successful traffic growth and opened notable routes within the year.

exactly my thinking too ...
why talk about BRU here, it's not the only airport that CRL is competing, and it's certainly not the best comparison ever since their market is totally different.
Clearly a lobby talk, and it's as discreet as a fat elephant.

Whether you like it or not, in every market, in every country there is lobbying going on. Or don't you think CRL does no lobby at all, let alone Ryanair? FR threatening to withdraw from a certain airport, if their special conditions are doubtful is some sort of lobbying. Kind of a harsh way to do lobbying, but it is lobbying.

We didn't say anyting different. Lobbying is common, but in this case it's not a very clever one, imo.

?????? Explain that please. It's not only about BRU, the European Commission is going to bring the WHOLE CRL case on the table.

They took BRU as an example but it's a wrong comparison IMHO because BRU is a full service airport with LC as a minority segment.

so we agree, i was talking about the stupid comparison with BRU.
Now, if the lobby manage to get the CRL "case" analysed, fair enough. Everybody should follow the same rules.

The second sector I will touch upon today is air transport, a sector that has changed dramatically in recent years, especially because of the spectacular rise of low-cost carriers.
Low-cost carriers have gained substantial market shares, but they have also benefitted from substantial public support. Logically, we have received complaints from their competitors.
At the same time, old incumbents have consolidated and restructured, giving rise to yet more important cases.
The subsidies granted to regional airports are another issue of interest for us. The majority of regional airports in Europe are not profitable and can only survive thanks to the subsidies they receive from local authorities.

I am aware that regional airports are often key for local development and can effectively put regions and towns on the map. However, in a sector that has been liberalised for almost 20 years now, it is hard to justify spending on duplicate and non-profitable airports, especially in times of austerity and consolidation of public budgets.
Currently, in the 27 Member States, 77% of airports are publicly owned, and another 14% are mixed ownership. Only 8% are private.
State aid scrutiny needs to ensure that this public ownership does not unfairly advantage some airports and airlines to the detriment of others, thereby contributing to a correct allocation of scarce public resources.
A number of important judgments in this sector have availed this more stringent role for State aid review. The most recent one, in the Leipzig-Halle airport case, has led the General Court to confirm that the construction of airport infrastructure is subject to State aid scrutiny because part of the economic activity of operating an airport.
This judgement has a direct impact in our most important case in this sector: Charleroi airport.
As you all well aware, the Court annulled our 2004 decision, asking us to look at whether the Walloon Region and Charleroi airport had behaved as market investors. We are of course looking into this.
Now, in our analysis, we have also to take into account that airport infrastructure is an integral part of the economic activity of an airport.
So, I have asked the Belgian government information about the aid granted by the Walloon Region to BSCA, the manager of the airport, for the development of its infrastructure.
We are all aware of the success of the business model of Charleroi airport. However, this should not be built at expenses of other competing airports, such as Zaventem.
Depending on the replies of the Belgian Government, I could take a further decision in this case already towards the end of the year.
By looking in a systemic way at these issues in the over 40 cases we have on the table, I’ve also come to realise that the guidelines we use to check them, which were published in 1994 and 2005, may need reconsideration.
Thus, on 7 April, I have launched a public consultation as a first step in our process of re-assessing our rules for air transport.
Interested parties can comment until 7 June and I hope this invitation will be taken-up by our stakeholders. On the basis of the comments we receive, we will decide if the existing rules should be revisited and how.

to Mr. Etienne Schouppe ?
- did they also ask information about the huge capital spent (rightly) to build BRU before BIAC was privatized?
- Unlike you André, I don't think that BRU was taken as an example, it was clearly done on purpose. Just remember the name of first airline to make a case.
-I would tend to beleive that Almunia has a serious (personal) grudge against BSCA and surely Ryanair.
