ULM crash in Liernu (Belgium). Both pilots safe.
A ULM crashed at Liernu this 27 Apr 2011, after the engine failed 100m before the ulmodrome. The pilot tried to land in a patato fiels, but one wheel broke and the aircraft turned upside down. The 2 occupants managed to get out by themselves.

Judging by the photo, I wonder if this could not be brand shiny new OO-G60 - who knows more?

It looks to me like an Apollo Fox, OO-G60 (registered 14.07.2010) might be a good guess!

First of all: good they were not hurt.
Now a silly thought: is it possible to put basic agriculture in the lessons of pilots? At this moment you see everywhere the potatofields being prepared. Typical is that those fields are not flat, to allow the roots to develop potatoes under the soil. I mean: could they not land on a gras field?

Have you actually read the article? They were on final, not easy to go elsewhere without engine power.regi wrote:could they not land on a grass field?

And no, there is no agriculture in the syllabus, the syllabus is already quite comprehensive as it is. Nor would it be much use. Having lived through a very comparable accident, I can assure you the vegetation is one's last concern in the given situation.
Might be different for the pilot in the situation below, though:

chopping up a banana plantation by a crop duster doesn't sound very economical to mejan_olieslagers wrote:And no, there is no agriculture in the syllabus, the syllabus is already quite comprehensive as it is.
