New Brussels Airlines 319's : different paint schemes
Just saw this picture on Airliners net :
http://www.airliners.net/photo/Brussels ... 1866200/L/
Can you spot the difference?
I wonder how it's possible that the livery is different.
Different painting companies?
Which one of the liveries is the right one?
Regards,
Duke

Other than the biggest dot missing on the left tail, I do not see anything significant. I think there is a cover over the engine inlets of the right airplane. The left one seems to be the right c/s and I assume both are painted with the same company, those are the two mexicana birds, right?

Hi,
Indeed on spot is missing on the right one !
I also think it's a jet cover, the red stripe on the left.
I also don't see the *A mark at the upper right side of the aircraft-doors.
Painted in Mexico ?
CX-B
Note : the left B that misses one dot seems even better more modern to me..
Besides I did also prefer the jet-colours of the *A jet..

I was just looking at the photo again and it seems that that the dark blue section on the aft fuselage isn't totally the same either. Just look at both aft doors and the 'white triangle' seems to be a little bigger on the right one. Although it can be some kind of illusion (or just me) as the quality is not that great in such detail. Maybe that is what Duke meant?

There's even a difference .. the front wheel doors/covers are different ,
one opened and one closed ?
How's that ?
Maintenance.. bird nesting danger?

Opened or closed nose gear bay has nothing to do with c/s, but main gear doors are not closed either if you didn't spot it yet.
Anyhow, another detail I just discovered, the left one doesn't have the a star alliance logo just aft the cockpit while the right one has...

Re: New Brussels Airlines 319's : different paint schemes
They placed the star alliance logo on SSR once it arrived in H117.

Euh... they look painted identical too me, just some stickers missing (like the STAR or the red dot).
The rest of the differences you see are due to maintenance actions, like a nose wheel bay door unlocked, or engine covers in place...
if you want to see a real paint difference within the SN fleet, check the tail plane of SSP and compare it to the rest of the A319... why the hell was that painted white?

Err, 14-1 = 13, no?DeltaWiskey wrote: ..... the biggest dot missing on the left tail ....
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it
Not that I personally bother but if once deemed serious enough to be corrected on the first two birds years ago, ...
Sigh.

Well, you all found more differences than I first saw myself.
I was actually making a hint to the obvious missing dot on the tail.
It just struck me, as it it is quite a clear "mistake", especially seeing the two planes right next to each other...
No other intentions though...
But it reminded me of the child's game "Look for the differences"...

Re: New Brussels Airlines 319's : different paint schemes
I don't think the missing dot is a mistake really, but rather an area of rework, just like the missing STAR alliance logo next to the door... There are a lot of stickers making up the livery of aircraft, you know, and not all of them are always put on right away nor entirely correct from the first moment.
SSQ already got its STAR logo in MIA, while SSR got it here in BRU: maybe they just ruined the sticker while trying to put it on SSR and didn't have a spare one available without delay? That's not a paint error...
The only 2 basic paint errors on the A319 fleet that I know of are:
-) white elevator on SSP, whereas all other A319/A330 have a blue one to blend in with the tail...
-) old lila colour on engine covers of the STAR alliance logo jet, rather than the new grey-blue colour.
That's something that should never happen, as it means somebody sent out the wrong specifications, OR the paintshop didn't follow them up correctly.

OO-SSD also has an error on the empennage . Just below the horizontal stabiliser...

Re: New Brussels Airlines 319's : different paint schemes
i put a little more effort in comparing the two aft doors:

Is it just me, or is it really different?

Re: New Brussels Airlines 319's : different paint schemes
Probably it is just an illusion created by the different stands of the airplanes on the picture. I can't believe there is a different between them.

Re: New Brussels Airlines 319's : different paint schemes
I find it hard to believe as well, however it certainly doesn't look the same...
Re: New Brussels Airlines 319's : different paint schemes
It almost looks like the first has a small window like whereas the second lacks that window... But I don't know if the aft door of an A319 even has a window?DeltaWiskey wrote:I find it hard to believe as well, however it certainly doesn't look the same...

Yes it has a window but a very small one...just for the cabin crew to check outside conditionsConti764 wrote:It almost looks like the first has a small window like whereas the second lacks that window...
