It should nevertheless be pointed out that the load factor had decreased from 54.4% to 54.2% as a result of the capacity increase from 907 to 1033 million available seat-km (+13.2%). But it is true to that increase in capacity has attracted an almost equivalent number of passengers.tolipanebas wrote:Those who have been wondering how on earth SN is going to fill the extra capacity from swapping RJs for A319s, here's the first result of the LH promoted more aggressive sales tactics, which last year yielded great results at OS too:

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
For reference, OS only grew 2.1% in JAN, compared to the same month, last year.
The members of the Austrian Airlines Executive Board Peter Malanik und Andreas Bierwirth said: “We continued to grow in January 2011. But the EU capacity restrictions still apply. We have to fly with the handbrake on“.

Nice picture of SN's first A320 (D-ALTC to become OO-SNA). Personally I like SN's paint more on the longer A320 than on the A319.
Can't wait to see it flying in BRU (with his new nice Recaro seats).

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Anyone an idea of the ETA @ BRU for OO-SSQ ?
Was "seen" around 01:00z in Canada (credits Steve Peck - European Spotters Group) :
And a general heads-up on Brussels Airlines OO-SSQ which passed through my
area around 0100z heading towards a crossing. No idea of route or possible
stops but should make landfall "over there" by early morning hours.
Cheers - Gerald

I think it will make an intermediate stop at Keflavik first. We'll just wait and see...ggmeese wrote:Anyone an idea of the ETA @ BRU for OO-SSQ ?

Short final, 10 minutes? Something doesn't add up here...
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
It could very well be true. I have no idea about the routing whatsoever. I just made an 'educated guess'...DeltaWiskey wrote:Short final, 10 minutes? Something doesn't add up here...
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
OO-SNA was also supposed to arrive today. Has somebody seen it already?

not today, somewhere around the 16th - 18th
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
However, OS coupled increased turnover with drastic cost cutting measures to be able to make money due to the reduction in yield. Claiming OS success is only due the fact that they flew more pax is incorrect. As I'm not aware that SN is doing the same I seriously wonder if it will have the same positive effect as OS had. In the end, getting more people in your aircraft is not the difficult part of the job. Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Looks like OO-SNA was registered today!
(Or it's a bug in the system - Belgian Aircraft Register)
Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
OO-SNA is indeed registered today, this always happens some days before delivery and SNA is sheduled to be delivered at 16 February as stated by Geert Sciot to Flightlevel.be (see previous page, or one of the previous pages for all delivery dates of SSR, SSQ, SNA and SNB).Polaris wrote:Looks like OO-SNA was registered today!(Or it's a bug in the system - Belgian Aircraft Register)

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
The introduction of A319/A329s on RJ routes will cut CASM on those routes by double digit figures according to an internal presentation. I'd say THAT is some drastic cost cutting, don't you think?LJ wrote:However, OS coupled increased turnover with drastic cost cutting measures to be able to make money due to the reduction in yield. this means they also have an average load factor in mind. any idea what the lf could be?tolipanebas wrote: The introduction of A319/A329s on RJ routes will cut CASM on those routes by double digit figures according to an internal presentation. Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Meanwhile, SSR (A319) is expected in BRU today: the Brussels Airlines hangar is beginning to look like a delivery centre with 2 A319 and 1 A320 being readied for EIS.
I'd say: keep them coming: we need more!

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
SSR is already in the hangar for two weeks, i'll say even more, the modification (seats ...) is already done on that one. SSQ is already halfway the modification
