You have indeed some exotic Low cost carriers but you have also some European like Jet2, Air Berlin and Norwegian.

I did not know :
" To reach Pier A it is necessary to descend to a wide connecting tunnel (...) which allows passengers to pass beneath the taxiway above. This taxiway is not really needed so the airport is to begin building a surface level connection shortly across it which will simplify the journey."
A very good idea indeed !
Strange... When the A-pier will be extended this would mean a considerable detour around the entire A-pier for jets parked at the south-side of the A-pier to go to the runway...
Correct, I don't think that the airlines want to make a detour.

I know it is a matter of ongoing discussion, but personally, I woudn't call air Berlin a low cost. Especially not now they are about to join OneWorld; their service levels will have to go up, and so will their fares. In a few years time, I bet AB will be just a 'normal' airline really, but I agree with you however that they are a prime candidate to enter the Belgium-Germany market one day, or why not a BRU-PMI? They have a HUGE hub in Palma...

It was Air Berlin plan to start up a route ex-BRU to PMI but for some reasons they never showed up.
Air Berlin is indeed an airline between low cost and a full service carrier.
