Vueling to open base at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
Second base for Vueling outside Spain
Vueling plans to open a base at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in April 2011. This was announced today by Alex Cruz, member of the Vueling Board of Directors.
Vueling is the first airline to start a base at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol after KLM, Transavia, Martinair and Amsterdam Airlines. For Vueling, Schiphol is its second base outside Spain. In early November the company also announced plans to open a base at Toulouse airport in 2011.
6,000 extra seats
In the first phase Vueling plans to station one aircraft (an Airbus A 320) at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The arrival of Vueling will add around 6,000 extra seats on flights to mainly Spanish destinations, so Dutch passengers will clearly benefit. From April 2011, Vueling will add 28 scheduled flights to its operations at Schiphol. In addition, the airline will offer a couple of new destinations: Zürich, Alicante and Palma de Mallorca. During the summer months Vueling adds also Ibiza, Sevilla and La Coruna to its network.
Vueling
Vueling operates year-round flights from Schiphol to Barcelona, Malaga and Valencia. The airline's head office is in Barcelona. In 2010 Vueling transported more than 9.5 million passengers to 50 destinations in Europe.
