EU Commission approves €19.7 million public funding for innovative Dutch regional jet
The European Commission has authorised The Netherlands to grant a repayable advance of €19.7 million to Rekkof Aircraft N.V, for the development of a new generation of Fokker regional aircraft. The Commission found the aid to be compatible with the EU Framework for State aid for research, development and innovation. The aid, which is limited to the minimum necessary, will allow Rekkof to launch the critical development phase of the programme and will act as an incentive for private investors to join the venture.

Aha, thank you for this news. My Dutch friends in manufacturing industry are all very excited about the relaunch of the F-100. Well, last year they were.bxleu wrote:EU Commission approves €19.7 million public funding for innovative Dutch regional jet

I have made my point about this already: it will never happen.
By the way, the commission agreed for a 19.7 million euro "subsidy". This is really peanuts for the development of an airplane. This is just an attempt by some clever guys to catch state money, grab it and close the books ( again )

I'm sure you'll be the first to sell them whatever it is that you sell if they miraculously manage to launch the thing after all.regi wrote:Aha, thank you for this news. Re: EU Commission approves public funding for Dutch regional
The not-so-popular 100-seat market is getting really crowded. The E190/195 is pretty much the only who is doing fine since the DC9.
Re: EU Commission approves public funding for Dutch regional
No doubt about that, it is my job. And this is why I am speaking to the Dutch colleagues. But the problem is that I have to crack open NV Holland. ( they rather keep it for themselves ) Not easy.earthman wrote:I'm sure you'll be the first to sell them whatever it is that you sell if they miraculously manage to launch the thing after all.regi wrote:Aha, thank you for this news. Secondly, we sell components, we do not give it away for free as a prototype, waiting to get serial orders. Some Dutch colleagues become already reluctant about this project because of this issue.
But if the customer buys and pays 1 prototype, I don't mind. Even if I know that it is with subsidies.
Despite my fundamental criticism of this relaunch, I would love it that the project really lifts off.
I explain: the relaunch of the F-100 is not feasable. The toolings are old. The manufacturing techniques are outdated. A lot of strategic components would have to be replaced by new parts, involving very costly procedures. Just take the engines. ( but also other issues such as hydraulics, fly by wire, cockpit , electronics )
But positively IF it lifts off, than it means that there is a completely new airplane.
Third problem: it has been mentioned already that in case of relaunching, the manufacturing would happen outside the Netherlands i.e. India. What are my chances to compete against Hindustan Aeronautics

Re: EU Commission approves public funding for Dutch regional
And now they turn their head towards Brasil to build there a regional aircraft.
As if nobody in the Netherlands has ever heard about Embraer.
I told you guys, this is just a way to grab subsidies.
I see my Dutch colleagues in week 14 and I predict that their faces will show little happines about the rebirth of Fokker , Rekkof or whatever they want to name it.
Sorry, just in Dutch:

Nothing yet on the website of Rekkof, don't bother.

Re: EU Commission approves public funding for Dutch regional
It's not like the Brasil FAL idea is new. I already heard in 2006 that was one of the possibilities. Brasil is a fast developing country like China, India,... Makes sense to me. India has RJ plans as well...
A way to grab subsidies? Don't make me laugh, although there is some truth in it, it is certainly not the only reason for the existence of Rekkof/NG Aircraft...
JRJ is a serious business man with good knowledge about the aviation industry.

But what has happened untill now?
But if it is profitable, it doesn't matter. OK, he is a good businessman. I agree.
- Somebody buys the old toolings of a ( now) demoded airplane.
He creates a new name.
A website is launched
The website is adjusted, looking even more ridiculous
And a new website is launched.
And subsidies are provided.
But no part has been made.
