Since when does the EU own ATC services ?

Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline
except of this self declaration, I don't read that on some offical paper.

and hold EU Governments and passengers to ransom
I have never seen a statement of gangsters asking for ransom money.

without any financial penalty
sorry , but when you strike, you lose your salary, and that is already a financial penalty. In case of not recognised strikes, you receive no money from your union.

a. Mr Titin, CEO of Belgocontrol, has just declared that Belgocontrol needs a 20 million euros subsidy from the Belgian government. If the Belgian government doesn't own Belgocontrol, why is he asked to pay for it ?

b. Ryanair is the European airline that carries the highest number of passengers per year (more than 70 million at last count).

c. According to Ryanair : they repeatedly strike because they know they can shut down Europe’s skies and hold EU Governments and passengers to ransom.

d. Are you 100% sure that the striking controllers will lose one day's pay ? Seems too good to be true ...

It's not a subsidy. All he asks for is that the government pays for the service they receive. And that they stop taking money from his company to make the national budget look better.

Since when is it normal that people don't pay their bills ?

well,it seems that you don't read the Ryanair messages clearly.

Belgocontrol is not a part of EU Inc. The EU does not own it. Right ? But that is what Ryanair stated:
EU Govt owned and mismanaged ATC services

favourite airline: To transport a certain degree of passengers is no reflection about the preference of the passengers. Favour is a reflection of a feeling, not a economical calculation .

Ransom: well, you came back yourself on the statement of Ryanair. Not a police investigation on ATC's who asked ransom money.

Salary loss: I agree that I don't know the exact details of their contract. If it states that they can strike without loss of pay, so be it. A bit strange in my view, but anything is possible.

Btw, this was just sifting through the vocabulary details.
I am very surprised that nobody reacted on the real content of the Ryanair + MoL declaration.

Not everyone react as fast as Mr O'Leary.
But ("Le Soir", today, page 22) : other companies and airports think of reacting to that strike.
Among them, Brussels Airlines which has had 12000 passengers affected and lost some millions of euros.
The association of Belgian air companies is looking into the possibility of a collective action.
Other heavily affected companies are seriously examining the possibility of an action in court.

Le Soir newspaper announced that Belgocontrol canceled the transfer of the 2 ATC's.

Is this what I meant before that the ATC's have the power ?

On the other hand, 10 passengers have taken legal action .
