That is a great shame. I would have hoped that they could have survived.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

I alsp just read it.
This is really sad for Belgian Aviation.
Let's hope that the employees will find a new job as soon as possible.
Best Regards,

I guess its quite obvious that TUI Airlines Belgium must boost its activities by adding more (4 ex SLR ?) planes to its proposed 2-strong fleet.
One thing is good, the uncertainty for the staff is over, lets hope most of them can start from a brand new slate.
From my side: a final salute for Sobelair to enrich the Belgian aviation during the past 57 years.

A sad day for Belgian aviation, especially when we are talking about a real aviation-monument that carries a lot of nice memories...
One thing that remains in my thoughts is that with fixed contracts with Jetair, TUI, etc... how it is possible to fly into debts?
Anyway I would like to give my support to all flying staff and hopefully they can restart very soon in another company...
greetings,
Bart

I got the impression Vastapane was not really interested in saving the airline. Looks to me he's just interested in the big money.

The fixed contracts Bart mentions are part of the problem !
What is contract worth on long term at rock bottom prices?
In the end , if you are lucky only the fixed costs are covered.
But sad all the same they had to cease operations!!

Does anyone know in which planes TUI air Belgium would be interested?
Would it be the 737-800 and two 767's??
I saw that VEX and LTE have been called in to help get the stranded passengers get to their destinations.

It is verry sad news. After 7/11/2001 Belgian lost it oldest airline.

Yep too bad this number 2 in Belgian that is not surviving this awful time in Aviation. Maybe TUI can take over some people for their new airline.

Like mentioned above: a very sad day for Belgian aviation. The oldest airline (58 years) has gone.
And I really regret the fact I never flew on it
. I just hope the personnel will find new jobs!!!
