Re: new A319 for SN

Post by HighInTheSky »

So, confirmed are the 2 A320 who are most likely to come from Monarch (OO-SNF and OO-SNG)

But based on other fora and rumours from inside the company, there will be no less than 4 A319's and 1 A321 who would join the fleet in 2011 aswell...

Someone who knows where these a/c would come from?

OO-SSP will leave the fleet, so that would make a total of 9 A319's, 2 A320's and 1 A321 :o

Will be nice to see A321 and A320 in SN's fleet. If the A321 will join SN, it's sure he will deployed on TLV. But that's a night flight, so he could also deployed on other routes during the day. Anyone an idea about possible A321 routes exept from TLV?

2011 will be a very interesting year for SN. I can't wait to see them flying A320 and maybe even A321.
I'm curious to know where these aircraft will come from. If there will come ex-Sabena aircraft available, SN will probably choose for these, but if there are no ex-Sabena aircraft avialable...

At least SN will have a nice Airbus fleet in 2011 compared to this year or past years. Probably: 9 A319 (and no SSP anymore :D ), 2 A320, 1 A321, 6 A333 =>18 Airbus aircraft. :)

They have now 5 and there are strong rumours that the final decission for the sixth will be made soon. I think it's a logical development that SN will get at least one extra A330 in 2011.
SN wants to expand to AFI (non-stop routes, more destinations, more frequenties). And with 31 weekly rotations this winter with only 5 aircraft they really need some more.

Of course this is not sure (altough I would be suprised if it will not happen), but the 4 A319's and 1 A321 aren't sure/official either. So with everything we know and the "rumours", SN will have in total: 9 A319's, 2 A320's, 1 A321 and 6 A333's. ;)

I would also say to deploy the A321 to TLV, just like in Sabena time. The load in that time and for that type of a/c was between 90% and 95%. On certain days a year always 100% load factor.

Other possible routes: GVA is very important for SN and could compete with a bigger a/c against Easyjet.
HEL is also an important destination in SN route map. Maybe they could also deploy it to LHR.

All flights to HEL are now operated by STAR alliance partner Blue One however....

Could it also being deployed on routes like MAD, BCN... during the bussy summer/holliday periods?

I heard the same, altough I've difficulties to believe that it will come already in S11. BTW, it would require another aircraft, something like A332, because I don't see them operating A333 to JFK/EWR.

As some (don't know the exact numbers, only rumours about 4/5 RJ85's) RJ85's will leave the fleet, some A319 will replace RJ85's indirectly. Some RJ100's taking over RJ85 routes and A319 taking over RJ100 routes sounds logical.

Because OO-SSP is an ex-Air Inter/Air France aircraft. It was build for the domestic network of Air Inter. It's not suited for SN's operations. If I'm correct SSP is never deployed on the longer routes, TLV and Moscow. SSP was a cheap and fast solution in 2008, but it's not suited for SN.

Correct, had to say: "was an important destination of SN."

Ofcourse it can! That's the beauty of having 3 types of a/c from the same A32F family. You need a bigger capacity? Switch to A320 or A321 (if there is 1 available). Cockpit are qualified on the 3 of them, cabincrew aswell, you only need 1, 2 or 3 more (or less) if you switch types.

I would add to those routes at certain moments AGP, TXL, LIS, PMO, FCO,...

That's already what SN is doing now with the A319, B733 and B734. The cabin crew have become very flexible these days; only at the level of pilots is it a little more complicated, but there is always a solution.

Cabin crew isn't going to remain that flexible. Cross qualification on Avro-B737-A32F is stopped.

If the rumors are confirmed, it seems we are heading for a European fleet dominated by the A320-family of aircraft.
If, if, if...ok, if an A321 joins the fleet and is used to fly to TLV in the evening/night, the best destination during the day would probably be AGP (Malaga).
In favor of quality air travel.

How can they focus on AFI without another A333? Would be difficult isn't it? Of course there are talks about another A333, there is just no final decission yet. ;)

As what I heard about an A321 is that they are evaluating it, but no decision is taken yet. (rumour ;) )

talks aren't talks :) i don't think there are any real negotiations going on for a 333, the first six will be taken care of first:)

According to Aero International, Brussel Airlines will lease in april 2011 two A320 exclusive for charterflights of Club Med.
