mooie belgian air force airbus 330 voor luchtvaartfans?
Bij wie moet je zijn voor meer informatie?

Defensie zoekt nog een 40-tal vrijwilligers die vrij zijn van woensdag 6 oktober 00.00 u tot vrijdagmiddag 8 oktober en die kunnen figureren als vrijwilliger. Ze moeten een goed inlevingsvermogen hebben (bvb als zieke, probleemgeval, vliegangst, Nederlandsonkundige, etc); bereid zijn om in primitieve omstandigheden te verblijven (sportzalen, scoutslokalen, leegstaande hangars,..); geëvacueerd willen worden (tot in Florennes); geen schrik hebben van een paar knallen en geduld hebben ! It won't happen... Government planes can't be used for "fun trips"... The only exception to this are flights organised by the government itself for a good cause like the "Make a wish foundation" and other similar foundations.

Unless you happen to be on holiday in a country where a disaster happens (like Haïti) and you need to be evacuated, you are part of the military and need to go on a mission or you are part of B-FAST (or the Flemish counterpart with Dr. Beaucourt) you won't get a chance to fly the A330, the A310 or other governmental planes...

SN has been operating several flights with it recently, as one of its own A333 is in C check in Malaysia.

Normally, a Portuguese A332 is used to replace SFW, but on the occasion where its capacity is not sufficient, the Portuguese owner switches it around and uses the BAF A333, leaving our Air Force with the A332 for the day.

So if you absolutely want to fly on it, best is to try to find out on what dates SN will be using it and book a flight to DKR... Anyway, it's really nothing special: its an ordinary A333 inside.

You will have to be quick though: as from next week, the SN will wetlease a 767 from Blue Panorama iso an A330 from Hifly....

Precisely today SN237 to Dakar and Freetown is operated by CS-TMT, the A333 of the Belgian Air Force. Despite the fact that there are only 4 flights to Africa today and SN could do with its own aircraft.

And yesterday the Air Force sent its only remaining A310 CA-02 to New York with the Ministers attending the opening session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

There just might be one way to get a trip on the A330....
Two years ago I signed in for "Fly to your dream", an event where being a Pilot in Comopsair (Belgian Air Component) is promoted.
This event took place on a day where a training flight with the A310 (escorted by F-16's) was planned. Everybody that signed in got to ride with the A310 too, we even had a look around in the cockpit etc. It was a brilliant day.
I don't know whether they still organise the event, but if they do, be sure to sign in, it's real fun, even if you don't get to ride the A330.
