Air India asks Boeing to pay $840 mn for Dreamliner delay

NEW DELHI: Air India on Wednesday evening said it has asked US aircraft producer Boeing to enhance the compensation for delaying the delivery of B-787 Dreamliner planes to $840 million from $710 million sought earlier.

A delay can be costly for the airlines: higher fuel consumption, impossibility to open new routes, payments to banks for financing the aircraft, etc. It is normal to seek compensation.
