200 China pilots 'falsified resumes'

200 Chinese Pilots Lied About Their Flying Experience.

After an issue came out that more than 200 pilots lied about their experience, China is checking the qualifications of all its commercial pilots.

Last year, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) conducted an investigation. This new revelation follows the previous investigation which started last year.

About half the pilots worked for the parent company of an airline were involved in a recent fatal plane crash.
Shenzhen Airlines is the parent company of Henan Airlines, whose aircraft crashed last month and killed 42 people. 54 passengers and crew survived the crash. The plane missed the runway which resulted to a tragic accident.

In the middle of 2008 and 2009, the employment histories of more than 200 Chinese commercial pilots were found to have been falsified. Some of them embellished their flying histories.

In a report, it was said that some of those individuals involved were former military pilots who became civil pilots. After having found out, pilots were grounded and had to go through re-examinations and re-assessment.

The CAAC, the country’s aviation regulator, has now launched a further investigation into qualifications. It cannot guarantee and it has to get rid of all the under qualified pilots. However, this new investigation will also look at others involved in China’s aviation industry which includes flight trainers, airline investigators, repair crews and air traffic controllers.

In a separate investigation, authorities looking into the Henan Airlines crash were focusing on the qualifications of the pilot.

Starting to read this article I was smiling a bit, just a bit because the background is a terrible tragedy.
It confirms what we in industry know already for many years: the Chinese product is not reliable. A Chinese certificate is not trustworthy.

But there is another detail in this report: the fate of ex military pilots. There is a very large report on the internet about the military build up in China against Taiwan. 1 detail is striking: +- 1500 Chinese made early Mig's ( 15-17-19) would have been converted to unmanned guided bombs to be send over Taiwan and keep the air defence busy, while the real attack planes have more freedom. The west always thought that those old style jets had been scrapped.
When the West found out about this strategy, it was a real shock because western defences can not detect a manned from a unmanned airplane.
But unmanned means that those pilots were redundant.

Now we know where they went: to civilian operators.

Where they still function as flying bombs...

This is serious.....A Doctor can kill one.A fake pilot can kill many more.
An Example should be set to punish future offenders.

No, examples don't work, see death penalty. The only thing that works is constant control, unanounced inspections, immediate grounding of all airplanes of the companies involved etcetera. The idea that you have X % to get away with these scams should be changed into the idea that it is impossible to cheat. Don't even try.
Getting away with it is already to late.
