I heard rumours "end of January"?
That would be very fast. SN itself said April and June in the press, but who knows, maybe it's earlier.

maybe we can make a guess ;)
I looked at planespotters.net (is it up to date/reliable?) and from the A320 production list of stored aircraft I distilled these possible frames (engine commonality and age <15 years as conditions):

cn 566 (ex-Mexicana, lessor: FLIT)
cn 615 (lessor: Menajet)
cn 626 (ex-Air Jamaica)
cn 630 (ex-Air Jamaica, lessor: Aercap)
cn 662 (ex-Air Comet, lessor WFBN)
cn 799 (lessor: CIT)
cn 1780 (ILFC)

or 2 Mexicana birds, but since their possible future is not yet certain and negotiations by SN for the new birds probably started before MX got in trouble, I don't think these are considered.

Your thoughts?
Is it possible SN will lease frames older than 15 years?

Why would the planes have to be stored currently?
One of the two A319s which arrived recently flew with Meridiana until it was sent to the paintshop for instance...

The thing is, there are so many A320s out there, it is hard to make a guess really if you don't know where to look, but then what does it matter?

Where are all the ex Sabena birds right now, BTW? ;-)

So we will see kinda "new type" of aircraft entering SN?

I didn't saw that the 320 type was confirmed rather than the 319...

... and btw, still no "hope" for the 318? :o

SN confirmed in the press that they will lease two A320's. They said that at the time they announced the contract with Club Med. ;)

Don't hope for it. The A318 will not come to SN. ;)

Why would you want to start that discussion again? Please do that here: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and 737 fleet.

As there is no question mark & no indication this is a rumour, I guess this is first hand information so fully correct & confirmed? Because, why else would you post it like this?

OK sorry... this is indeed an "A319 for brussels airlines" topic...

Is the A319 going to become the new "backbone" of the brussels airlines fleet within the next year (instead of the RJ85/100!)?

As I have explained numerous times in the other topic about the fleet replacement at SN, the aim is to get the average seat count of the fleet up in order to reduce unit costs (fully in line with what is happening throughout the LH group of airlines right now), meaning it is indeed a given the future 'backbone' of the SN medium haul fleet will be larger than the current 'RJ89', which is the theoretical model in between the RJ85 and RJ100 of which SN has 26.
