SNBA-plane blocked in Cameroon

An SN Brussels Airlines aircraft with 180 passengers on board is blocked since Friday evening at the airport of Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon. One of the engines was damaged during take-off from Kinshasa (DR Congo) airport. The plane was able to reach Yaounde, but there it was concluded that the damage was too important to continue further. Two technicians were flown in from Brussels. Meanwhile the 180 passengers were transferred to several hotels in Yaoundé.

End of translation

This must have been a costly adventure for SN BA.

Congratulations to the Operations management, which found quick solutions to the problem by sending two A319s to Africa.

Hopefully everything will return to normal this morning.

Is there any news about what happend exactly with the engine?
Did the plane had a bird strike and then damaged some of it Fan blades?

Friday morning the schedule to FIH was provided by OO-SFO, so this should be the ill-fated plane.

All three A330s departed safely this morning, albeit somewhat late (30-40 minutes).

From 7 February and for 3 weeks, the schedules will change to allow the last A330 to undergo a D-check in Singapore.

Good afternoon,
Was at the airport this morning and I am very sure to have seen 3 A330 SNBA leaving : 1 around 1000 and the 2 others around 1130-1230. Looks like they are all back in service and hopefully without problems.
It does not give SN Brussels Airlines the positive publicity they deserve (personal opinion).
Regards, Karl

Most of our interline agreements count on ZEM. Things have been changed last year inside KLM which ment for us things got a lot cheaper. Where am I talking about, I will loose this anyway when I am away from KLM :)
