Static C47 at Melsbroek

Post by airazurxtror »

In "Le Soir", today, page 36 :
The "Dakota Documentation Center", of the 15th Wing of Transport, Melsbroek has recovered the derelict C47 that has been left rotting at Oostende for 20 years.
The C47 will be brought to Melsbroek (hopefully in september) to be displayed alongside the C119 and the Percival Pembroke who are already there (Groenveld quarters).

As far as I know it is still preserved (since 2001) in the Koninklijk Museum van het Leger en de
Krijgsgeschiedenis/Musée royal de l'Armée et d'Histoire Militaire
. Or is there another Junkers, still rotting away?

If I remember well the one that I'm talking about was recovered from a lake in Canada, the fuselage and the wings were disasembled...and kind of a corrosion nest.
