I have already observed in the Brussels Airport website these last weeks that many easyJet flights were cancelled (almost every day!) and I was wondering why. This article gives me the explanation.
It seems to me that easyJet would save money if they solved the personnel problems quickly, because I guess the reimbursement and penalties to frustrated customers do cost them a lot of money.

What penalty payments? They simply offer to book you on the next flight, and if that doesn't suit you, too bad for you. That way it isn't costing them much really, other than the missed revenues if you decide to cancel your ticket rather than rebook it.
This particular case was a flight originating in MXP, which is a big easyjet-base (with 20 or so planes), so I image they've looked at what flight to cancel there first and simply taken the less yielding one of the bunch.... So if BRU sees very regular cancelations like you say, it not only means Easyjet has a serious lack of staff, but also that BRU isn't exactly amongst their best performing destinations then, or they'd be doing more to safeguard their operations here by canceling other routes first!

yes, we had an issue with a mxp-bru cancelation a few weeks ago with easy jet..we - at work - are no longer allowed to expense flights with easyjet..better for SN i guess..

Well at least a lot/most of the pax that had such a cancelled flight (and I heard already several stories about it, some days they cancel flights on several destinations, so more as just one flight)will never fly again with EasyJet and that's a good thing for SN wich is operating on all of Easyjet's destinations.b720 wrote:yes, we had an issue with a mxp-bru cancelation a few weeks ago with easy jet..we - at work - are no longer allowed to expense flights with easyjet..better for SN i guess..
It seems easyJet doesn't really care about BRU (maybe not happy about the "delayed" low cost terminal?), they prommissed more destinations, but I don't see a really big expansion and now all these cancelled flights (how is the situation on other airports served by EasyJet? Also so many cancelations?)

Same thing in Geneva, it seems :

and also in Great-Britain.
Rumoured it's because of a severe crew shortage ...

Personally I had a flight cancelled due to the volcano.
easyjet reimbursed my flight AND they paid hotel (no food), hire car and petrol to come home.

Seems like the Germans have had it too with Easyjet and their constant flight delays or even outright cancelations:

Personally, I woudn't fly them if I really needed to be somewhere on a specific day, that much is for sure!
A few good soundbites from the article:
"Mon vol pour Bruxelles a été annulé quatre fois consécutives"
"Easyjet est moins ponctuelle qu'Air Zimbabwe" according to statistics from the BAA!

Well that's true, only 48% of EasyJet's flights from Gatwick departs at time. Air Zimbabwe: 50%.tolipanebas wrote: "Easyjet est moins ponctuelle qu'Air Zimbabwe" according to statistics from the BAA!
You probably heard it already. Stelios said to EasyJet that they must fly more on time within the 90 days otherwise they must chance their name because they give the whole EasyGroup a bad name. His lawyers send these letters to EasyJet, he is not jocking.
So there is a chance we'll see another EasyJet over a few months.

Really sad to see that airline in such a pitiful state.
"My flight has been cancelled four times in a row" : who would still dare to book on easyJet after that ?
Not every flight is cancelled, of course - but you never know if your flight will be or not ... most inconvenient !

EasyJet has 90 days or else...
EasyJet has been told it has just 90 days to get more flights running on time, or it will have to change its name.
The stern warning was handed down by lawyers for Sir Stelios Haji-Ioanou, the owner of the easyGroup empire who licences the easy brand to the airline.
