I think as well this was rather a "legal" message, in order to avoid somebody claiming something in the future from the than not any more existing Privilege programme. It did not speak about ending the code share, only about ending the partnership between Privilege and those airlines. Which is logical, no Privilege anymore, no partnership anymore. So we will have to wait for what partnerships M&M will offer from November onwards. But they do have quite a lot already, however, some are restricted to certain routes ...kiwiandrew wrote:b-west wrote:It's still a bit weird... I'll be able to book a flight on Jet Airways, but won't get miles?
Or maybe they just gave a list of all current partners, regardless if the partnership will be continued once M&M is in effect...
I suspect the partnership will probably continue under M&M , after all , the current 'biggies' under M&M ( LH , LX and OS ) are all frequent flyer partners for 9W according to 9W website .

Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
People have indeed come to misunderstand this latest message from Privilege!
You have to understand that legally speaking, the Privilege FFP will continue to exist after OCT 24th, it will just be put on standby so to speak.
As we all know, SN are no longer accepting any new applications and are urging all Privilege members to tranfer their points to the new M&M program, but they can not legally force anybody to do so, so it is likely some people will keep their account, most of them by neglect I am sure.
Since the points earned by them are part of a sales agreement, it would be illegal to just void their account and its ballance unilaterally, so SN will not do that. They will thus have no choice but to keep the account alive till the points have expired, after which it can then terminate the entire program completely and for good.
However, with SN being part of M&M and contributing to the cost of that program, it no longer also wants to pay for Privilege miles redeemed after OCT 24th, so it has decided to basically make those points useless, hence the termination of all these contracts.
Don't read more into it, because there isn't.

You can read the same here:
http://www.flightlevel.be/340/brussels- ... share.html
It would be indeed strange when SN ends the cooperation with Etihad, Hainan, Jet Airways because they don't belong to an alliance. If they do so, then I foresee that those will end their ops at BRU in the near future.
Everything via FRA and ZRH: no thanks!! What will we get in return??
But I think the same as member Boeing767copilot, its only the end of the codeshare agreement for the privilege program

While going to the Privilege website trying this, I had no problem with my account... the weird thing is that it didn't work my wife's account, even after the transfer process... any idea?!BrightCedars wrote:Thanks, I'll try that once I have both numbers handy again.sn26567 wrote:If you go to the Privilege website and you try to re-register when you have already registered previously, a message will appear saying that you have already registered. Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
Last week I was in contact with Brussels Airlines about the Miles&More/Privilege case. They confirmed that the communication was wrong. More specific: the codeshares will NOT be ended.
Coincidence or not but today we could also read a new version, corrected version, on Flightlevel. That communiqué is totaly different then the first one.
So don't worry: Hainan, Etihad and Jet Airways will stay together with SN

Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
Yes, everyone understands that the code sharing with Jet Airways does not stop but questions remain:
1-Are we able to accumulate miles on code share flights operated with Jet Airways ?
Most probably yes provided the ticket is issued by SN with a SN flight number. This needs to be confirmed though.
2-Are we able to accumulate miles on all Jet Airways flights ?
This is not clear but although Jet Airways is not a Star Alliance member, there could be a separate agreement with flight partners such as Jet Airways
3-Do they count toward M&More Elite Status ?
Most probably no
4-Can we redeem M&More awards on Jet Airways flights
Again this is a question of a separate agreement but in most case, you might need more miles than the core award schedule of M&More for same destination

Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
The deadline for the conversion to M&M has been extended untill 14th August. It seems that many people still don't know or don't care.
I think that the conversion process isn't well planned. Hopefully all goes well with the transaction of the miles

I've now had the chance to do that and indeed it is the case. Still they could have made things nicer and clearer.BrightCedars wrote:Thanks, I'll try that once I have both numbers handy again.sn26567 wrote:If you go to the Privilege website and you try to re-register when you have already registered previously, a message will appear saying that you have already registered. The fiasco about codeshares is also a flagrant show of total lack of professionalism.
Hope this is bound for change!

Jet Airways has been a M&M partner since May 2006, so no worries. You can't earn status miles, though (as usual for non-Star Alliance partners that are not fully integrated M&M partners):Ducatibiker wrote:Yes, everyone understands that the code sharing with Jet Airways does not stop but questions remain:

Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
With MAM it's the operating carrier that gives the miles and not the marketing carrier. 9W has excluded a lot of RBDs for miles accrual, so be "careful" when booking rather cheap intercontinental flights with 9W.Ducatibiker wrote:Are we able to accumulate miles on code share flights operated with Jet Airways ?

9W overview:

Only MAM bonus miles can be accumulated on flights with 9W, but as written above 9w excluded a lot of RBDs for miles accrual.Ducatibiker wrote:2-Are we able to accumulate miles on all Jet Airways flights ?

No MAM status/HON miles are given on 9W.Ducatibiker wrote:3-Do they count toward M&More Elite Status ?

Yes, on all 9W operated flights MAM awards are possible (no upgrades though).Ducatibiker wrote:4-Can we redeem M&More awards on Jet Airways flights

And the rip off continues...
Just tried to book a FREE ticket: 185€ taxes and charges.
Full paying ticket on the SAME flights: 124€...

Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
I agree, it is only really worth it if you purchase long haul (C class)..otherwise don t use your miles..
Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
I can only agree as well. But it is not worse than it was with Privilege. I once wanted to book a flight FRA-BRU-MRS with Privilege Miles, oops, it would have been 20'000 Miles (fine) PLUS around 300 Euro for tax and fees (as it would have been two flights ...). But with M&M you usually can at least pay the tax and fees with miles as well (for LH flights it works, I am not so sure about other operators).
But basically, either you use your miles for long-haul flights or you are better of to buy some toys for the kids or a new suitcase at the LH Worldshop ...

Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
There should come some EU legislation against this because it gives the impression that people get scammed.
As taxes should be the same (ok maybe difference between Y & C as possibly C passengers use fast lane security etc.) for every passenger on a flight. So it make no sense that "free" flights are more expensive than a normal booked ticket...
Maybe a large organisation should use the Lisbon treaty and get 1 Million signature to let the EU commission make a proposal against this practise.

Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
Is Etihad part of miles & more??
Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
I'm happy with Mileage Plus from UA... Only a reasonable fee is payed when booking with miles... Much better then M&M which sucks big time...
Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
No.Desert Rat wrote:Is Etihad part of miles & more??
The taxes for most EU MAM awards are a real punishment for being loyal to the program if you ask me, and specially LH is really expensive since they charge per flight segment and not per one way.
It's true that on some flights a MAM award is much more expensive than a normal b.light early savers flight, but MAM has different rules than the SN revenue tickets. On many SN revenue b.light early savers tickets YQ taxes are reduced in order to get a lower ticket price, when for MAM this is never possible.
Before spending your 30k miles on a EU award always check the price of a revenue ticket, and in my opinion you should not even waste your 30k miles on a EU MAM award.... 10k more and you fly to Tel Aviv or Africa.
Re: Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN
Thanks, MAM, for these clear explanations.
Alternatively you wait until 14 days before your flight to book your smart award for 15k miles and you spend another 15k miles to erase the taxes.MAM wrote:Before spending your 30k miles on a EU award always check the price of a revenue ticket, and in my opinion you should not even waste your 30k miles on a EU MAM award....
