Fuel supply at main airports
Out of sheer curiosity: how is aircraft fuel supplied to the main airports? I should expect this to be done by barge or by train; but the few major airports I know have neither rail nor canal access to this purpose. Or do they have direct pipeline supply? I can hardly imagine all that fuel to arrive by truck.
I suppose the information is delicate, but could anyone estimate the volume of fuel handled at BRU or comparable airports?

If I'm not mistaken, BRU is supplied by a NATO pipeline...

If I remember well some numbers back to the A Pier project (man, 10 years ago
), BRU is today probably around 1 million Tons a year, 1 200 million liters.
You're right, better not think about bringing this in by trucks or cans.
(Yes, we can !).
Now you're teasing me on this.
Anybody with more accurate numbers?
Have all a great week-end.

OST is by trucks
Re: Fuel supply at main airports
LGG is pipeline yes, but what I don't understand is that there are still many oil companies managing that fuel.

Re: Fuel supply at main airports
At CRL the fuel is supplied by trucks, and then stored in to big tanks. Fuel is then transported by trucks to the airplanes on the stands. In BRU fuel is directly delivered on every gate by a pipeline system. So in Bru you can only see big fuel trucks on teh cargo ramp, abelag en the remote stands. When you are waiting for a flight you have noticed the small trucks on the gate refuelling the airplanes.

sorry Jan, but from today onwards you are on the national security black list.
Be prepared for deep cavity searches when you fly to the USA.
The NATO pipe line has been a target already by terrorists/extemists/revolutionaries/anarchists or whatever you want to call the people of the CCC.
