That was the original plan but I heard there is something wrong with it, so it is grounded for now. They are sending numerous 737s (sometimes within half an hour apart) from the same destination to cope with the passengers (they sold tickets for 747s).

I saw in Brussels Airport website that the aircraft used for JAF 7114 from Tenerife is a B767 (landing foreseen at 17.29 LT).
By chance, is it the brand new OO-JAP?

I will go to Cancun on the 21st of July with JetAirFly (JAF 207).
It seems there are still using their "famous" OO-TUC.

I am curious about that plane. We can read many things about it. Many problems with it (delays because of devices failure..Etc). Plus, we all know that plane is old (19 years old).

Then, someone from a travel agency told me that this plane caused so many problems that he had a very deep revision.

First question : As I know this kind of big maintenance must be done each XX years, I would like to know if this was an extra big check-up or just a normal one.

Second question : Would it be possible that they would use an other plane than this famous old OO-TUC Boeing 767 ? Like for instance one of the newly bought plane you were talking about in that topic ?

Age shouldn't be much of a problem for a well maintained airplane and that's probably where TUC's problem is. The 'new' one OO-JAP is much younger (7 years) and, more important, is coming from Asia, which is known to have an overall very good maintenance program, unlike TUC that came from South-American VARIG. I expect all Boeings 767 got delivered in roughly the same shape (bits and pieces can always be different from plane to plane) so I guess we could blame VARIG for the bad shape of TUC.

The last time I know OO-TUC was replaced by another plane for a long time (by the Arkefly 767) was last year when it went into D-check. It is my impression things have improved since then, since I don't remember as much and as big delays as back in the days before that D-check. Sure there are still some delays, but not as long or as big as before.

Second question : Would it be possible that they would use an other plane than this famous old OO-TUC Boeing 767 ? Like for instance one of the newly bought plane you were talking about in that topic ?

JAF has aquired some new planes indeed, but they are all 737's so not being deployed on long haul. The only 'new' 767 they have is the 7-year old OO-JAP which has performed it's first flight a few days ago, to Tangier. This plane is supposed to be more reliable then OO-TUC so I guess they will start deploying it on the long haul routes. I know the 'order' has been placed well before OO-TUC had his D-check, so I assume back then OO-JAP was supposed to replace the old lady. Since OO-TUC seems to be in some better shape then before, they might keep it active anyway, but then I don't understand why they don't deploy the younger JAP to the carribean and use OO-TUC for higher capacity medium haul flights, ad hoc flights (other charters) and back up for OO-JAP.
Maybe they are testing JAP on the shorter routes before deploying it to long haul. But then again, things can't get much worse then back in the days when they had frequent delays of several hours.

One thing you can be sure of: your plane is absolutely safe to fly with. JAF won't deploy it untill they know it is 100% sure to make the trip technically spoken.

If you compare on how much OO-TUC is at work and how much it gets a technical problem i'd say the A/C ain't so bad. If there's a problem the delays are usualy kinda big though but people should understand its for the safety and comfort of the pax and crew

I know, I've seen this also. According to my source at KZMJ, N812SY came in around april 13th to bridge to TUI Belgium, handing it over from CIT (leasing company) to JAF should be today.
