I have red it on this forum some time ago...HighInTheSky wrote:From who?Conti764 wrote:Last I've heard, it was an issue of availability. The current seats are out of production, so they'll probably use the old SN-seats...

Not to attack your post, but we've all read that...Conti764 wrote:I have red it on this forum some time ago...HighInTheSky wrote:From who?Conti764 wrote:Last I've heard, it was an issue of availability. The current seats are out of production, so they'll probably use the old SN-seats...
And still I haven't heard, read or seen anything about it internally or from an external reliable source. So I still doubt that we'll soon be flying with a 'new' A330 with seats from 10 years ago...
If I'm wrong, and I hope I'm not, I will take this back

Serious....
how come they just can't buy new ones.
I can't imagine seats would be such a major investment...

Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
Well I can understand it's a big investment, but a investment that is needed to give pax a reason to choose SN and not AF/KLM for exemple.fretn wrote:Serious....

But as I understand out of another topic on this forum. SN buyed (will buy) new seats (new light weight, slim seats) for their A319's and B737's(?). So they will "redesign" their A319/B737 fleet but they wouldn't buy new seats for their flagship airplanes??? If they can buy new seats for their A319's, why shouldn't they do it for their A330's? And if the old seats will be used as back up until the new seats are arrived, that means SN has ordered the new seats too late.

airplane parts are a huge investment. and seats prlly the biggst.
you'd be amazed how much it costs to change the lightcovers on the fleet (airbus and boeing)

Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
Yes I know it's a big investment. But an investment that's needed. That's why I said in my previous message: "Well I can understand it's a big investment...". I just checked an article in "Piloot en vliegtuig" of a few years ago. It's about the new seats installed in 2006 in their at that time 3 A333's. The costs for that project was around 30 million. So I absolutly agree with the fact that "cabin things" are big investments.TUB023 wrote:airplane parts are a huge investment. and seats prlly the biggst.

But still, if they can buy new seats, light covers... for their A319/B737 fleet, why can't they buy than new seats for their flagships, the most important airplanes in the fleet (as the AFI network is THE most important for SN). That's not logical. If they install the old Sabena seats, I hope that's only for a few months until new seats will arrive.
Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
whats wrong with the old seats from the pax point of view?

Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
they don't have the sabena seats anymore
(at least that's what i've heard)
Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
Well wich old seats would they use than? As far as I know the seats they used before the current seats were the Sabena seats.TUB023 wrote:they don't have the sabena seats anymore(at least that's what i've heard)
Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
A very important thing, no lie-flat seats. I don't know if they have a IFE, but if they have it, it must be an old system.cnc wrote:whats wrong with the old seats from the pax point of view?
The old seats, are ex-Sabena seats as far as I know. So do you like to fly with ~10 year old seats if you pay a lot of money to fly in business and you know that the other 4 planes in the fleet have newer and better seats? Well I don't.

...or SN has ordered the seats on time but the manufacturer cannot deliver them on timeMR Boeing wrote:that means SN has ordered the new seats too late.
Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
In this case the manufacturer should pay to install the old seats, remove them and install the new ones when available. I hope that SN has negotiated a good deal!SN1203 wrote:...or SN has ordered the seats on time but the manufacturer cannot deliver them on time

Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
We have no idea what SN's plans with the A330 fleet are... These birds are quite old and I can't see them flying around for another ten years... By then, SN may choose to replace the old A330's with new ones or younger second hand frames and might consider IFE in all seats... I doubt old planes which will be replaced in the not so distant future will get priority when it comes to updating the interior, except maybe for the high yield C-class...MR_Boeing wrote:Well I can understand it's a big investment, but a investment that is needed to give pax a reason to choose SN and not AF/KLM for exemple.fretn wrote:Serious....

Re: Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009
SN recently renewed their lease contracts for the A333's until 2013. So I can't believe SN will fly 3 years with a A333 with business seats that are more than 10 years old. I'm only talking about bussiness class, I've never said they should/must buy new economy seats.Conti764 wrote:We have no idea what SN's plans with the A330 fleet are...
