... with no indication of source either. And it is a hasty addition, not even mentioning the 2010, and it is on the main MAS page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysia_Airlines but not on the specialised page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysia_Airlines_fleet

All in all this Wikipedia mention does not convince me. Then again, why wonder or speculate? We'll see it arrive when it arrives!

Didn't say Wikipedia is the holy bible. Just wanted to say that it is mentioned on there too...

Well OO-SFV will leave Kuala Lumpur in March (no precise date I know for sure). But that doesn't mean he will go straight to BRU. No, he will first get some things donne somewhere else. He will get a big C-check, new interior and a new paint before he will come to BRU to be readdy to operate. (Maybe a bit earlier, that depends on what they will do in BRU and what not, I don't know for sure if they will do all the things that need to be donne somewhere else.) Al these things can go quickly but SN gave theirself a buffer of a few months to be sure the aircraft is readdy to operate for them.
So when he will come to BRU will depends on the time the C-check, the interior and the paint job will take.

The new interior of OO-SFV will be very "nice" . Businnes class will be equiped with the old Sabena seats (no flatbed). The same seats as used in the other 330's where not avalable. Takes 2 years to order them somebody of the company told me.

2 words...

NO...WAY...

Source?

The company... Wich? SN? Seat factory?

Do you really think that THE African specialist of the LH group will refurbish an a/c to the standards of 10 years ago?

Come on...

Do you mean that? That are the seats that were used on their 3 first A333's before they got the new business class in 2006. And now they are gonne use these seats again on their newest airplane?

"It will be delivered" shows a degree of certainty, so it would be nice if you mention your source if it's publicly available, which is (I assume) in this case a bad copy paste from Skyliner Aviation. They mention "Mar10" which is basically March 2010, and not the 10th of March. Skyliner is the only source mentioning this date btw, so I wouldn't take it as "confirmed" (especially as it isn't correct anyway).
Hello,

Brussels Airlines A330-322 OO-SFV cn095 with engines 2x PW PW4168 leased from ILFC is due to delivered on the 10th of March 2010

Skyliner wasn't my source but planespotters

Maybe these seats were manufactured by this well reputed Japanese seats manufacturer who now has a bit of a trouble fixing its products... We'll see what time brings with this new bird.

any news?

just a thought: is there a reason SN seems to prefer the A330-300 and not the -200? (do they need the higher capacity, what about range, cargo,...)

because Swiss is phasing out their -200s... :P

Young A330-200's are much more expensive to lease than more senior A330-300's.
Many airlines need the legs of the 200, SN doesn't. SN needs more cargo space (no dedicated freighters) and will happy carry a few more seats or pax along with that.
The only thing better for them that what they are flying would newer A330's, or in the future B787's or A350's, but all of these would need more much capital cost. Now if they could acquire a few of these aircraft new at a grouped price that could be interesting if the money is in the bank or in the owner's pocket.

ok, it's all about the (leasing) money then.
but these Swiss A332s are also 10+ years old, would the price be that much different?
about cargo and SN, is the big cargo capacity needed for every AFI destination?

with such a small wide body fleet its better to stick to 1 aircraft type.
4 A333's and 1 A332 could make operational planning very difficult

Don't forget ALL of SN's flights are in fact triangular flights, combining 2 AFI destinations: for that you need a good cargo and seating capacity, otherwise you risk not being able to transport sufficient cargo/pax on some sectors of the flight. An 330-200 would be too small for such operations really...

it would be an ideal plane if SN would serve its long haul destinations non-stop, but then they'd need far more planes than they do no, unless they'd drop frequencies, which is NOT a good idea to do really.
