[9W]First ever picture of 6 aircraft at BRU Airport together

Post by jetguy »

On Thursday 11th February, a photographer managed to capture all 6 Jet Airways aircraft operating that day, on one picture !

Press Release:

Jet Airways unveils the first ever picture featuring all six Jet Airways aircrafts at Brussels Airport

Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, is proud to send the very first picture of all six aircraft operating from and to Brussels Airport.

Jet Airways started operations in Brussels Airport on August 5th, 2007. By the end of 2007, the carrier was operating 6 direct daily flights out of Brussels: Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai in India, and Newark, New York JFK and Toronto in North America. However, until February 11th, 2010, no photographer managed to take a picture of all six aircraft at the same time on the tarmac of Brussels Airport.

This performance has now been achieved by the head of Communication & PR of Brussels Airport, Mr Jan Van der Cruysse. In the morning of Thursday February 11th, 2010, he managed to capture all six aircrafts in one picture, five Airbus A330 being parked at their respective gates, the sixth aircraft taxiing towards the runway.

Mr Stefan Hollands, General Manager Benelux, Jet Airways, said: "We were pleasantly surprised to receive this picture, particularly in this period of the year when the weather conditions in Brussels have been affecting a number of long haul flights out of Brussels Airport. Jet Airways was able to operate almost normally under these extreme weather conditions and no flights have been cancelled, including to New York were heavy snowfalls have been disrupting regular flight operations".

Indeed, coming to think of it, most of the times the 6 9W planes are positioned on both sides of the B-pier, thus making it impossible to frame all of them in one single shot... from the ground.

With RWY 02 regularly in use however, there have been numerous occasions to frame them from overhead though... weird nobody has ever thought of this method before :?:

Let's say BOM, because DEL is a secondary hub of Jet Airways, Mumbai is their main hub.

You can often see pictures with 3-4 Jet airplanes on one photo and than you can think "wow, BRU or BOM/DEL?" indeed. And I think we can be verry happy with that. There are not a lot EU airports that are a hub with 6 daily long haul flights of an Asian company.
But this photo is special, nice to see them all together.

Let's hope they'll stick around for some time :)

Now the best thing would be that they would join Star Alliance i.s.o. or with Air India, that would mean a real boost for Brussels Airport, esp. regarding transatlantic flights which could then easily transfer to 9W's Indian flights... There are many Indians living in the USA, so the market is defenitaly there.

After all, 9W wasn't all to wrong when they decided the move a few years ago. Air India is looking for a new 'hub' i.s.o. Frankfurt (Shannon being amongst the candidates) and if I remember correctly Kingfisher was looking to start the same operation at AMS...

Very interesting document and nice reward for BRU Airport. :D :D
But sorry to say: such a poor quality picture for a great moment. Leave it to aviation spotters...

I think it is taken with a high end phonecam or with a soso small digital cam. It just isn't easy to bring the real stuff in :)

It often happens they are leaving EBBR in trail to the east : 3 aircrafts on the same departure routeing, separated by about 2 minutes, with very similar ATC callsign ( JAI225-227-229 ) ... And then, you really have to take caution of pilot's readback of ATC instructions ... At least one of them will take the instruction or another one !!! :))

If it's any consolation,
to the left of the de-icing truck, there is something that at least looks like a 6-wheel main landing gear bogie. :D

Kind regards,
GR.

No, they used them again on the BOM-BRU-EWR route from November 2009 to January 2010.
