Brussels Airlines joining Star Alliance in December 2009

I think the only reason for a codeshare with US will be a non-stop connection to Philadelphia, but indeed I think that UA and CO are enough, but who nows...

I've ever heard (don't know if it is true) that SN reservate almost 60% of the seats on the JFK flights of AA. So I think the second daily flight to EWR is absolutly needed for CO, because their flights will be too full if they simply upgrade to B772 I think.
The reason why they wait so long to announce, I don't know. Maybe because of the new AFI destinations, probably UA and CO are going to codeshare on some/all of these new destinations, and I think SN has not the intention to announce their AFI flights to soon (because Air France). But I think they will announce this, this week or in the first part of February.
Some nice things to be announced in the comming days/weeks:
-Austrian codeshare
-new AFI destinations
-US partnerships
-And for later in 2010 the replacement of the Avro's and maybe other new aircrafts to be announced (replacement B737, extra long haul...)

The sole site with the new codeshare is the site from Brussels Airport... And the only flight is the EWR flight...

So I doubt that this codeshare is actual allready, it seems to me that Brussels Airport is to soon with showing the codeshare.

I think we'll have to wait a couple of days to find out which flights will be codeshared...

The codeshares are loaded in some non-public programs and some people know already that the codeshare will go much further than only BRU-EWR.

It also shows an SN flight number for the CO flight to EWR which is currently non-existing, so I don't think BRU are pulling this partnership out of their proverbial back, so to speak.

The assumption the Transatlantic codeshares are going to be announced in combination with the announcement of the some new African destinations by SN, to which the new transatlantic partners will most likely want to add their flightcode, is a very good one.

Formal announcement on this issue is expected mid February.

Maybe you remember you that the Sunrise lounge of Brussels Airlines was in 2009 in the top 50 of the lounges in the world. But I still don't know on wich place. But I just found an article (from some months ago already), and you can read in that article that the Sunrise lounge of SN is chosen as the second best lounge in Europe with the Jet Airways lounge in BRU on the third place. The Crown lounge of KLM in AMS is chosen as the best European lounge.

So you can found in the top 20 of the lounges in Europe:
1: Crown lounge of KLM
2: Sunrise lounge of SN
3: the lounge of Jet Airways
The place 7 until 13 are all lounges in LHR.

It's a list maked by Business traveller Magazine, one of the best Business magazines in Europe.
