SN 2586 TXL-BRU cancelled, technical problems, OO-DJN

Post by euroflyer »

SN2586 TXL-BRU (dep 17h00) has been cancelled. Anybody with more information? SN only offered place on last flight from TXL on 21h20 (arriving 23h10 instead of 18h25), flight in between was not possible, despite SEN-status and booking in b.flex.

LH ticket counter managed to rebook me via FRA, arriving on 22h15 (I am in FRA now, but the FRA-BRU leg is delayed now as well ...).

NOT MY WEEK

Yesterday SN cancelled already SN2608 FRA-BRU because of the snow in FRA ... was rebooked on LH4572 one hour later, which was in addition delayed one hour itself ...

I've had this flight cancelled already 3! times in roughly 6 months... always b.flex, and got on the next one.
(think around 18.30-ish?) (has always been on a Tuesday)

Anyway, it does not surprise me anymore!

Don't forget to claim the 7.5€ voucher which you are entitled to if they cancel the flight!

The bratwurst in the "Tram" is a good alternative for those 7.5€'s ;-)

yeah, that is what they do if the booking situation is not good enough and the next flight has enough space ... This time the plane was already in front of us on the tarmac, but could not fly anymore

I skipped the voucher and the Bratwurst (which is really good in the tram!) this time for the LH flight via FRA where I am now eating the whole buffet in the SEN lounge, as LH 4592 to BRU is delayed by JUST 40 minutes (after the first message was 100min!!), giving me enough time to put on some more kilos 8-) ; as I said, this is NOT MY WEEK.

If the plane was at TXL already and THEN the flight got cancelled, you can bet your life it isn't because of low booking numbers, because think about it for a second: it will need to get to BRU back anyway and the next flight operated as scheduled, so why would SN cancel the flight, give the pax a meal voucher and fly the plane back empty, while the other plane would take home the pax of both flights? That doesn't make any sense now, does it?

And even, I'm flying around last weeks with loads that are between 0 and 30 pax, and none of the flights got cancelled... So there must have been a technical problem ;)

Who ever thinks SN flights are cancelled due to low bookings is seriously wrong, it was indeed a technical problem.

Soon you can travel high speed train Brussels to/from Berlin, these are SO much more reliable than planes!

yes, sure, tell this to the Eurostar passengers. A litle bit of frost and all stand still.
If you talk about reliability, we have to confess that the most reliable way of crossing the channel is the ferry.
No ferry to Berlin...so it will be car/plane or high speed train.
Btw: I have terrible experiences with the ferries, never had a delay with the Chunnel and all my flights to/from the UK were on time...except Ryanair from Prestwick.

About the cancellation: yesterday half of Germany stood still because of snow blizzards and deep frost.
So be happy that you were inside an airport terminal waiting to be flown away, instead of getting stuck on the highway in a 15 km traffic jam.
Hope you made it back home. And back to work at 08h00 ?

Well, thanks, yes I made it to Brussels (even if this is not 'home' strictly speaking 8-) ). Arrived with LH via FRA at around 22h50, about 40 minutes later than that flight should have been. My colleagues who stayed on the SN flight (the one leaving TXL at 21h40 was the first one with available places) arrived after 23h30 as this flight was delayed for some 20 minutes as well.

Highspeed train between Brussels and Berlin you can forget, have you any idea about the distance? Even if the whole track would be highspeed (and it will not be) and even if there would be not stops (and you can forget that in regionalised Germany) it would still take more than 5, maybe 6 hours. That is not competetive. Trains are only an alternative on distances where they can make it with a maximum of 3 hours. This is the time you will more or less always need to go to an airport, check in, flight, go back into town at your destinations etcetera. Even for the shortest flights you cannot be (much) faster. If a train take longer than about 3 hours, going by plane will still be faster (might not be more comfortable, but faster), and speed usually is the most important issue (at least for people travelling for business ...)

You know, those weeks happen and once it starts... there's way you can end it!

Just two more days and it's weekend... hang in there! ;-)
