new A319 for SN
Does anybody have more details concerning the new A319 that will be added to SN's fleet soon?
Will it be a brand new airplane or an already used A319?
We already know where the 'new' A330 will come from, but I'm not aware of details about the new A319...

An ex-Privatair one. But it'll be de-rated as it's an LR with an executive interior. Still a very good thing as Privatair planes have much less cycles and are in very good state.

Re: new A319 for SN
As I suggest in another thread and if indeed this A319 is of the LR type, couldn't SN use it for BOS service?

It won't be the only A319 joining I think...
Re: new A319 for SN
do you think more 319's will follow?
Does anyone have the specific details of this ex-Privatair aircraft. I don't find A319's in the current aircraft list of Privatair.

Re: new A319 for SN
SN is not perfect, but I think they already understand that they are losing passengers because of their B737's. So I wouldn't be suprised if there would be more A319's joining SN's fleet in 2010.
Because these B737's are terrible. An example: a first class passenger from SIN to LHR in first/business class, booked a connection with SN to BRU (It is just an example, I don't now if this is possible to book SIN-LHR and connection with SN to BRU) in business class, operating aircraft a B733/B734. What do you think he wil do the next time he need to be in BRU? Take LH or something, SN her B737's are not nice, I know some flight attendents that are ashamed if they need to welcome business pax in the B737's.
Above of that, the operating costs of a A319 are much lower (ok lease prices much higher but I think that wouldn't be the big problem).
So if SN is a bit smart, they will get more than 1 A319 in 2010. I expect that the whole B737 fleet is replaced in 2012/2013 if LH will take over the other 55% of SN.

Re: new A319 for SN
Not so strange given the fact these 737 are leisure jets. Adding them to the fleet when SN Brussels Airlines became Brussels Airlines and the hybrid service they eyed back then wass justifiable. Now Brussels Airlines becomes a full service airline again there is no need to maintain these 737's and the company should try to replace them with the A320 family as soon as possible. Saying this as a die hard Boeing fan isn't easyMR_Boeing wrote:SN is not perfect, but I think they already understand that they are losing passengers because of their B737's. Do insiders have any idea if SN will stick with the A319 or if they are also eying the bigger variants? I think it isn't a bad idea to have some larger capacity A320's in the same layout as the A319's and have one or two A321's with a dedicated business class for the few SN destinations that can sustain such operation.
Re: new A319 for SN
Airfleets lists 4 A319's for Privatair, and all as 'history'. Two have found a new home with Olympic Air (since 2009) and the other are with Etihad (since 2008).diminbru wrote:do you think more 319's will follow?

Re: new A319 for SN
I understood the new Brussels Airlines aircraft is/was flying as F-OHJY: not privatair but National Air Services.

And currently stored at SNN.Lyulka wrote:I understood the new Brussels Airlines aircraft is/was flying as F-OHJY: not privatair but National Air Services.
If it is indeed this bird, it is another one returning to the old stables: it flew for Sabena from 1999 to bankruptcy in 2001 as OO-SSE.
Re: new A319 for SN
It was said before that an ex-Sabena A319 would join the fleet of SN in April 2010. It will get the Star alliance livery.
But I say it again, I think this will not be the only A319 for 2010.

Privatair? Big No No... Where did you ever get that info?!
Sabena? Yep! As I said before...
A330 will come from Malaysian Airlines.

Re: new A319 for SN
The next A319 is not going to be an ex-Private Air A319LR.
I think you're confused here.
The plane you refer to was used as a private jet by it's last operator (NOT Private Air), but it's a regular A319-112 really, just like all the ex-Sabena birds.
Let's hope SN does well this spring and gets formal permission from the board to sign for another A319.

Re: new A319 for SN
Some people around here do need a LOT of input before they get a clear hint, I must say
Re: new A319 for SN
Is it safe to assume this fifth A330 gets painted in Star Alliance colors as wel? It would be logical and I suppose the scheme is cheaper to put on then the regular SN scheme, no?diminbru wrote:@ Airdupont : I heard that it should be an aircraft from Malaysia Airlines :
