Well right, all the low paid job, not qualified,...this is discrimination... again.

what about the parity in the "national" airport???

As I told you before, if I make you sick and tired then take a pill and have a nap mister continental airlines.

You all have different point of view and it's not likely to change after some discution, so please concentrate on the topic and limit those troll as much as possible. Belgium is complex country that generates a lot of debate, but this has nothing to do here, unless it's very much linked to the airport itself.

hey Guys, stop bullshitting about language, or open another forum for that and I will be pleased to join and comment over there. But here it has got nothing to do with the LGG (versus BRU)duscussion.
To Desert Rat: forget about a "national" airport as even this name has disappeared years ago, as well as the way of thinking. We have many airports and I believe most of them are international, and that's what counts...and if you want the parity of Brussels Airport, you should be surprised as I believe you will find both if it in equal parts at all levels ! And as you find Walloon frenchspeaking people at Brussels, you find flemish people at LGG, although absolutey not in equal parts over there...(at LGG airport itself, not at subcontractors).
and coming back to the airports itself: don't compare a top second rank airport to a third or fourth rank airport

Indeed, it's hard to compare an airport in perpetual growth with another airport in perpetual crisis :D

I would believe it's more challenging to act and live with the crisis when having 13 full freighter airlines than having only 4...but indeed, it might be part of the people's behaviour and way of thinking that in the southern part of the country people are pleased just to see growth and not to care about much more, than to take care of a challenge and cosider all aspects of it...and search for ways to improve.

ps: yes, we succeeded in ending the language thing ;)

I guess you're right. wait & see ;)
But sadly, our 2 big cargo belgian airports failed to attract new companies while FRA has announced 3 new big clients in 1 week. What's wrong with us ?
Ok I know Germany is Germany, it's hard to find more efficient (well, at least that's my point of view), but still ... we have some nice stuff too ...

OK, let's make a bet: who is going to attract a brand new cargo carrier to it's airport in the next quarter ? LGG or BRU ? I bet it's BRU, and I have a wonderfull feeling that it's going to be a nice one. They deserve a nice Christmass gift, and I hope they will get it...
Shall you pay a bottle of champaign if they attract a carrier out of a German airport ? Just to change the news a little ? ;)

No it isn't... There are plenty of french speaking employees in customer services as well, but it is true the majority of these jobs are taken by dutch speaking employees. Why? Easy... In Flanders, we are educated in Dutch, French and English while in Walloonia you are educated in French and Dutch or English, this makes that a larger part of the employees in Flanders speak more languages then Walloon employees... Now you can start nagging again that I, the flemish racist, is flaming Walloons, but it's just a fact. Go blame the people who are responsible for the education in your region, not us...
what about the parity in the "national" airport???
BAC is a private company and thus in title to hire whoever they want. They do not have to care about parity... Or shall we talk about some Brussels municipalities who don't care about hiring dutch speaking employees at their offices?

Oh, stop whining... If you quote, quote me fully... I wrote I get sick and tired of you constantly flaming and insulting the dutch speaking community of this country. When a topic goes political, you are always amongst those who turn it into a political topic...

It's indeed sad because BRU and LGG are constructing new buildings or expanding their apron to receive new carriers or an upgrade in numbers of the excisting carriers.

Don't loose your time with Filou and Conti764. They will never accept your view point because they are paranoïd and to chauvinist.
At school, years ago for me, Dutch was the first "foreign" language (6H/week) and English (3H/W)
Now ,where I live, my grandchildren are starting to learn English and Dutch at 5. Later on (secondery school) ,they have to chose which language will be first and second. That is correct that 80% or so are going for English first. I think that same is true in the north. One of my granddaughters went to the total immersion school in English (6 years). Now she speaks excellent English and say average in ABN (evening school) . For north and south of Belgium this is becoming a must to fluently speak English (this is the real and only international language for business and technology). I speak French and I like French but it's not a religion for me. We can communicate maybe with 100 millions people in the world but that nothing to compare with English or Mandarin. Even if I have learned ABN at school and worked in Leuven, I understand youngsters who are not attracted by a language spoken by say 16 millions (non included white South Africans-joke!). Our Prime minister, Mr Decroos or Mr Eyskens are speaking excelent French but let me kill a myth: today less and less young Flemish are speaking French or if they do, very often it's just broken French as my Flamish is. Sorry to say that :most of them speak very good English but please stop to fantasize about French.

liège-bierset,

The webmaster is Luchtzak. I am only responsible for the news and a moderator especially in charge of the news forums. This thread is devoted to Liège Airport, not to langaue problems in Belgium. Therefore the webmaster and moderators remove (when they are aware of it: they don't read everything) any post that is not related to the topic.

This thread is going way out of topic. Therefore I will close and archive it. At the same time I will open a new thread on LGG news, where I hope everyone will stay on topic.

This has nothing personal, don't feel discriminated. I want just to remind the rules to everyone.

Let's post some facts and figures that also concern LGG.
Out of the entire Belgian export market, 81 % of the shipments come out of Flanders, 2,9 % out of Brussels area, and 17 % ONLY out of Wallony. (source fgov)
Might this be a reason why LGG's carriers- except TNT - are inbound driven and no others are to be found over there ?

Well the habor of antwerp, ostend and zeebrugge take a lot of credit for that so i don't think these figures should be used to see what airport or region is more attractive.

Cnc, these figures show the origin/production plant of export shipments, not the place were they were exported as such or where they left the country.
So harbours nor airports play a role...but exporting industry, shippers, etc.
