ethiopian flight experiences wanted

Post by cathay belgium »

Hi,

Searched for a flight to Mombasa and Ethiopian is very VERY cheap and departing from BRU (offcourse).
(1500 eur for 2pax+1chd tax in !)
So anybody some expieriences on this carrier, good and bad.
From BRU AND within Africa.

They'll fly B767-300 and B737-300 within AFI.

Is the change at Addis Abebba at bit modern or very AFI?

Just want to know because we'll flying with a kid of 6.

Other (cheap) possibilities to go to Mombasa,Kenya are also welcome.
But must be cheap otherwise it's gonna be a europe holiday! :?

Thanks already.

JetairFly flies to Mombasa every sunday with a stop in Zanzibar (pax remain on board).

Check ==> http://www.jetairfly.com

Why fly with a foreign airline with a change somewhere if there is a belgian company where you can stay on your seat ? ;-)

Enjoy !

Kenya Airways is often cheaper, but from other airports. I do not want to advertise but kayak.co.uk is a good website to compare prices. I never flew with Ethiopian but you can find a lot of reviews on the net. A good website is from Skytrax http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/ethiopian.htm

Have a nice trip, and please tell us how it was, afterwards!

An interesting experience on Ethiopian (although this was a flight between Stockholm and Rome) can be found here :

this is indeed a different report than from other sites . Especialy the flights from Asia are known to be semi cargo planes full of Chinese or Africans with their goods on board.

I've flown Ethiopean before and wrote a trip report about one of the legs here.

Actually I think the carrier is ok, but nothing to write home about. Legroom was rather limited and food portions small. Service was ok. Airco did its job too good. On the way to ADD it was very cold inside the plane, too cold in my opinion to be relaxed without apropriate clothing. On the other legs temperature was ok.
.

Connection at ADD was ok, however I think the airport doesnt have enough toilets. Lots of Chinese indeed at ADD.

Thank you Maho for the extra report.
I have been thinking about Ethiopian Airlines for a trip to Johannesburg because of the extremely low price. But I think I will reconsider it.

Regarding Flying in Africa, for your surprise , this is the best in the continent. i have quit a lot experiance.
i belive that it is a bit expenxive but top in safty, conection and passenger handling compared to any airline in africa.
