Dear members,
I am new comer on this forum, so I do not want to rehash to much opinions which were expressed here (At least, I'll try.)
I live at about 2 Km of Liege-Airport on 23L runway approach and that since 25 years. So I think I know well the recent story of what was called "Bierset" before civilian airports responsability became regional.
Very early, a well known PS leader called André Cools saw an opportunity to create new jobs. But the task was colossal. Early studies recommended that Bierset should be a dedicated to Cargo business and Pax would follow if opportunities show up.
Now coal mines have closed years ago, steel industry is slowly dying and is already on its last legs. We need new challenges and Logistics is one of them.
Here I would like to say there has been an interesting dicussion thread initiated by Acid-Drop .Unfortunatly debate turned soured, having been spoilled by one or two "friends" from the other side of " the north border".
To be honest I share 99% of what has been said by Acid-Drop, even he is sometime a bit optimistic and dithyrambic on this subject.
Even if it does not make everybody happy : Cargo at Liege-Airport is a success story and the airport is prepared for the business recovery on top of what has been said:
- Extended runway 23L/05R will be ready to be in use in Q2 next year.Designed to receive all existing aircrafts, even for the A380 and less anecdotal B747-8 at full load and full tanks (the only thing still to clear is claims introduced by our bitter neighbouring e.g. commune de Riemst, Limburg Province , Vlams Region, Town of Maastricht at The Conseil d' Etat, but already rejected a first time)
- Stands for 10 jumbos, new warehouses at Cargo Nord already in use. Military base closing next year, already 380 Ha of land available.LGG likely to be N° 1 this year ?

Re: LIEGE-AIRPORT Future
Shouldn't we keep only one topic for all LGG stuff ?
Some people get nernous around here when they see too much of LGG
LGG likely to be N° 1 this year ? => for sure

Re: LIEGE-AIRPORT Future
I have no problem with your suggestion ,just let us know which thread is best . As far as your 2nd points is concerned, I do not want to enter in sterile belgo/belge debate ; this is not the place for. Having said that, airports in Belgium is of course not a subject of consensus and let us have a fair exchange of ideas.Shouldn't we keep only one topic all LGG stuff ?
By the way, who the hell is this Mr Pompier. My friend If you are not happy with the subject stay away with your crappy post. We don't need you...
