BRU- every picture tells a story [PICS]

Post by diddi »

Some more results of our frequent visits to BRU:

In the Seventies I was the proud owner of a TTL Icarex camera, a 50mm lens and a 135mm lens as well.
That was all I had got causing some photographic limitations, either the plane was too small or too large suddenly.
Furthermore, I first used an Agfa-Gavaert CT18 slide film, which was grainy and deteriorated a lot over the years.
Fortunatety, Kodachrome became available at an affordable price in the mid-Seventies, so I changed to Kodak.
It is a pity that they`ll stop producing this fine film very soon! So, I hope you enjoy some reflections from the past.

There were two of those Britannias (ex RAF), both with small "In cooperation with Liberia World Airways"

And finally a nice 707 of LAP

I hope I got the details right this time. Skystef was right of course with OO-SBU in my last post, sorry for my mistake..

I am a bit confused by the one with the Air Algerie Caravelle: is it northwards or eastwards? IOW is that church spire Steenokkerzeel or Melsbroek? If it is Melsbroek, as I think, the skyline has changed very much indeed!

Photo taken from a certain height, apparently? The (at that time still open) visitor's terraces on top of the piers, perhaps?

Wonderful pictures of the good old times !
Many thanks, it reminds me of very pleasant flights in some of these planes ...
(By the way, I think that OO-TEF was an Airbus A300B1, not B2 ...)

Oh, yes indeed, it is an A300B1! And the AH Caravelle was taken from the (then) open terrasse on top of the northern pier, looking
into the direction where they later built the TEAMCO hangar (I won`t mention the present inhabitant..). The Air Congo DC-8-63 was taken from the same place but a looking little bit more to the west. Lots of open space around BRU then!
Greetings, Diddi
