hmmm very hard competition between Ryanair and Jetairfly on the same airport CRL. Someone will suffer.
I'm curious what the reaction will be of Jetairfly on the 100% discount for the airport charges Ryanair get.

I'm not taling about the customer or the airport but about the airline itselfs.

FR is the biggest intra-european airline, they have more power to negiotate, simple as that.

hmm, FR don't negociate. See what happens in the past in Spain and Italy. I don't call that "negociate". They don't care about an airport, city, country. They only love the smell of money. But that's off topic.

My question was what Jetairfly will do. Do they have room to expand further on CRL with FR as their biggest competitor who received some benefits? Jetairfly has its clients already, that's not the point, but Jetairfly react via BATA to close the future LCT at Brussels Airport. It would be strange that they let this happen.
I'm curious about next season. There we will see what happen.

jetairfly, brussels airlines and sas have different target groups so i don't see these airlines lose a lot of pax because of this. Maybe CRL will grab some transavia pax from AMS?
The 100% discount is shameful though! Is that even legal ?

When you run a business that's the only thing you are focused on...Ryanair is an expanding private company wich is looking for new opportunities and new market shares, who can blame them for competing with legacy carrier, or for opening routes where there's a potential???

Do you know if there exist a search engine for ryanair where it find the cheapest ticket for any destinations for CRL ? Trying all destination one by one is nonsense

Jetaifly is orientated in both ways. They operate flights on behalf of Jetair (and even TC to some destinations) to get their tourists to their destination accept for Turkish destinations where they rely on Turkish airlines, but they also offer scheduled flights in the low cost model. If I compare both companies I'd say JAF is servicewise above FR, but still under full service carriers.

If I were JAF, I'd abandon CRL and concentrate on BRU and LGG. JAF should be able to comply to BRU's conditions to use the LCT with the 737 fleet (thus creating the same operation only a few miles aways from CRL) and move from CRL to LGG for some flights.

BRU and CRL are way too close to each other to operate at both airports, especially when a company like JAF can have the same operation at BRU (LCT) as at CRL.

TO LOWER COST REGIONAL AIRPORTS

LOSS OF 44 WEEKLY FLIGHTS AND 600,000 PASSENGERS FROM OCTOBER

Ryanair, the World’s favourite airline, today (17th Aug) announced that it will switch/close 9 of its 10 Manchester routes to lower cost competitor airports in East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Liverpool (from 1st Oct) after Manchester Airport refused to lower its charges to reflect the lower fares being paid by passengers in the current recession. This move will result in the loss of 44 weekly Manchester flights, 600,000 passengers p.a. and up to 600 local jobs. Ryanair had offered Manchester an additional 28 weekly flights and 400,000 new passengers which would have created 400 new jobs if the airport reduced its high charges. Manchester Airport rejected this offer and Ryanair’s Manchester routes to/from Barcelona (Girona), Bremen, Brussels (Charleroi), Cagliari, Dusseldorf (Weeze), Frankfurt (Hahn), Marseille, Milan (Bergamo) and Shannon will cease from 1st October. Passengers affected will be emailed directly by Ryanair and provided with a full refund or the alternative of flying to some destinations from competing, lower cost airports in East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Liverpool. Ryanair has recently announced new bases at low cost airports in Leeds Bradford and Porto and will continue to grow routes and traffic at lower cost competitor airports to Manchester such as East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Liverpool.

I'm now awaiting a press release from Manchester Airport, stating how many passengers Ryanair itself will loose by this cancellation, how many job looses this will mean for Ryanair, how many less hours for crew, how many less income from inflight sale, how many less income from triple-sold airport taxes, ...

Furthermore, I'm glad to see that Ryanair finally adapts the cancellation policy from European legislation: when an airline cancels, it is the passenger who has the right to choose between a full refund (= including taxes and all booking costs) or a rerouting. Cancellations are done more then two weeks before date, so Ryanair doesn't have to pay indemnity.

Ryanair offers 4 weekly flights from Brussels Charleroi to ski-destination in Turin. This route will operate from the 26th October to the 27th of March.

New record for Brussels-South Charleroi
Three months with more than one million passengers

The flow of passengers is on the increase in Brussels-South Charleroi, the most accessible airport in Belgium. A total of 1,160,255 passengers were recorded during the summer of 2009, hence an increase of 42% compared to last year. In June, the airport welcomed 344,678 passengers, which meant an increase of 42% compared to June 2008. The number of passengers has not stopped growing since and a record number of 400,000 passengers was registered in July (402,537). In August, the record was once again broken by reaching 413,040 passengers, hence, an increase of 44%.

Numerous airline companies have announced their imminent plans for opening new routes. Following its success on current destinations, Jetairfly sparks off its winter season by connecting Brussels-South Charleroi with Murcia (South of Spain). The same day, Jetairfly will move its base from Monastir to the brand new airport of Enfindha, thereby modifying its present route. Hence, on that same date, the Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft of Jetairfly based in Charleroi airport boasts not less than 8 destinations.

Ryanair is equally expanding at the airport and from the end of October will open 7 new routes to Agadir, Edinburgh, Lanzarote, the Canaries, Tenerife, Oslo and Stockholm.
