Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
We have achived a very high level of absurdity between the municipality of Riemst and LGG.
(in french) http://www.lalibre.be/economie/actualit ... -nuit.html
The reasons of the attack are so insane (ie, a parking or a storm reservoir/tank are increasing the noice) that it's clear for everybody that the attack is just made to sabotage. No surprise though.

It's just the same operating procedure as in the case of the LCC terminal at BRU. The elections are coming !

Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
Seems they have profoundly studied their examples around BRU airport...
And yes of course there's elections only one month ahead.
I agree that ALL Belgians ought to think in the interest of ALL Belgians.
But isn't it the Brussels NIMBY's that started it all?

surely NOT ! the "Riemst case" is very, very old and the present aggression is only the last of a too long listjan_olieslagers wrote:Seems they have profoundly studied their examples around BRU airport...

( th most crazy thing with it, is that a lot of inhabitants of Riemst are working at the airport and would be jobless if the airport would decline
In addition, when a plane is overflying the region, nobody knows if it is destinated to LGG or MST (unless you listen to the frequencies)
Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
Alstom and Siemens are showing a great interest in the carex project (Cargo TGV).
They have proposed a design for the TGV : 120 tons per TGV. (pretty much the same than a 744 (112 tons))

Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
Cargo B, the Belgian all cargo carrier that started
operations in October 2007, has decided to relocate its hub to Liege Airport (mid 2009) to
further develop its operations as well as its new routes to/from Africa.
Cargo B today operates 3 weekly flights to/from South America (Sao Paolo-Viracopos,
Bogota, Quito and Caracas).
At the end of 2008, its fleet, initially 2 Boeing 747-200Fs, has been replaced by a new
Boeing 747-400F, having a larger capacity of 120 tonnes, and also more efficient in terms
of fuel burn, operational cost and noise.
The delivery of a 2nd 747-400 freighter and the decision to relocate the activities to Liege
Airport mean that Cargo B will operate its present South American and future Africa
routes from Liege. Cargo B will start as from 17 May 3 weekly flights to Africa to
destinations as Johannesburg, Libreville, N’Djamena, Kinshasa and Nairobi. All
destinations will be operated from Liege Airport after the move.
The delivery of the new 747-400 freighter took place on May 11th 2009 from the Boeing
factory in Seattle arriving at Liege Airport this 12th of May in the afternoon.
The majority of Cargo B’s operations will take place during the day, and its flights will
return from these two continents to Liege Airport predominantly with perishable products.
This new activity at Liege Airport will again generate employment and create about
30 direct jobs. « The economical and positive repercussions are most important for the
Region, since in addition to these 30 direct employments, another 75 indirect jobs will be
created », adds Luc Partoune, General Manager of Liege Airport.
« The operational flexibility at Liege Airport, the flexibility of its Customs formalities and
of the Phyto-sanitary procedures, as well as the specialisation of its handling companies
has been a decisive factor for Cargo B Airlines to relocate its activities at Liege Airport »,
explains Eric Gysen, Cargo Sales Manager of Liege Airport.
« The possibility to effectively operate 24 hours per day is essential to optimize the
utilisation of our new B747-400F aircraft », added Robert Kuijpers, President & CEO of
Cargo B.
For Liege Airport, these operations represent an increase of its traffic by 60.000 tonnes a
year, and reinforces its specialization in the logistics of perishable products.

Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
Are the flights of Cargo B going to be renumbered (because of the move to Liege), or do the flight numbers stay the same?

TNT : Liège - Asia
Source: http://www.payloadasia.com/article-3615 ... dAsia.htmlIn terms of its Liege to Shanghai service, Boots said that inbound from Europe the freighter is averaging about 70-75 per cent utilisation, with much of that back loaded to end of week meaning weekend flights are full. Singapore into China has about a 45-50 per cent utilisation and is also slightly back loaded to weekend. “We’re leveraging these volumes off our vast European customer base,” Boots adds.
From Shanghai to Europe the aircraft is 100 per cent full, partly comprised of loads from Southeast Asia combined with loads from China. In order to cope with impact of the economic crisis TNT dramatically reduced its commercial line-haul which has helped sustain the loads on its own freighter.
