Official: Miles & More to replace Privilege at SN

Post by tolipanebas »

In view of Brussels Airlines' integration into Star Alliance, the airline has announced it will join the Miles & More loyalty programme on October 25. As a result of this, its current loyalty programme, Privilege, will cease to exist on October 24 at midnight.

What are the most important highlights of this migration?

Privilege members have to enrol into Miles & More, based on the instructions they will receive
Privilege miles will then be converted into Miles & More miles after enrolment
Privilege Gold members receive the Miles & More Frequent Traveller status
Privilege Platinum members receive the Miles & More Senator status
Members can continue to earn and redeem Privilege miles until 24 October
No more Privilege enrolments can be accepted.

The conversion for the miles will be 1 Privilege Mile = 1 M&M Mile.

All Privilege Miles will be converted as Award miles, so not as Status miles.

A pretty important paragraph in the letter from Privilege is:
..."If the strategic partnership between Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa does not obtain approval from the European
Commission, please be informed that the Privilege loyalty programme will continue as such and that this letter of
termination will not have any effect "...

It is of the UTMOST importance that Privilege members who still have miles on their account and who wish to keep these miles, register themselves BEFORE July 31st.

Registration is possible via this adres: privilege.brusselsairlines.com/migrate

If you already have a M&M account, you can keep this card & number, unless your status changes to Frequent Flyer, Senator or HON Circle.

They annouce "VERY GOOD NEWS FOR PRIVILEGE MEMBERS"

BUT now, I can buy award flight in Europe for 20.000 miles and in a few months, the same flight on MILES AND MORE will be 30.000 MILES
IT'S A VERY BIG GOOD NEW......

Now, you win 250 miles per flight on BLIGHT. In a few months, it will be 125 miles with MILES AND MORE for the same flight.

Hm :? but what could you actually do with your Privilege miles? I have a six-digit number of them sleeping on my account. Just far too few flights were available for those Privilege miles AND you have / had to pay horrible expensive fees & taxes for Brussels Airlines award flights.

With Miles & More you will be able to choose from all the *Alliance network for your award flights, you can pay the taxes and fees with miles if you want AND you have a big, big compilation of goods and services in the LH Worldshop which you can buy with your miles - hotel stays, children toys, TV sets, mobiles, digicams, etcetera etcetera

Of course M&M is not perfect either, but at least you can actually DO something with all those miles

Totally agree with Euroflyer

Privilege was also so un professionnal and amateur.
Just look at the current chart to redeem Privilege miles on Lufthansa and Swiss and compate that chart with Miles & Mores. It is worth waiting for October before redeeming any award on LH or LX.

True, but if you book less than 14 days in advance you get the award for only 15,000 miles (with Privilege, if you book less than 7 days in advance you pay an additional late fee!!!)

Where was this anounced? Seems logic to me when we talk about AA, BA, HU and Finnair, but why do the codeshares with EY and 9W end? Will SN rely on LH via FRA to fly to the UAE and India? May this be the first step of 9W ending its ops at BRU?

I expect some upcoming upgrades/expansions in the light of these changes.

The cancellation of Ethiad is rather strange, last March they extended their codeshare agreements...

Also the cancellation of Jet Airways & Hainan are rather weird since they aren't connected with an alliance...

Wonder what this will do with the Abu Dhabi flights, the Beijing flights and all other flights...

More or less as we expected... Still, I'm sure there will follow a press release or at least a memo online to inform everybody.

I must say that Jet Airways is quite a surprise... *A even gave their OK for this partnership.
Both Etihad and Jet Airways rely on SN to feed their planes here in BRU, so I won't be surprised if they start to downscale at BRU.

I also received the same info letter via email today.
The partnership with Finnair (oneworld) ends, but it continues apparently with Malev (also oneworld).
And the partnership with Alitalia seems to be maintained in spite of Lufthansa Italia flying between Italy and Belgium.
Strange.
In favor of quality air travel.

Sorry guys, but this is NOT the end of the codeshare agreement between this airlines but from the affiliate Privilege program, I think!

It's still a bit weird... I'll be able to book a flight on Jet Airways, but won't get miles?

Or maybe they just gave a list of all current partners, regardless if the partnership will be continued once M&M is in effect...

I suspect the partnership will probably continue under M&M , after all , the current 'biggies' under M&M ( LH , LX and OS ) are all frequent flyer partners for 9W according to 9W website .

People,

I have registered my Miles&More number with Privilege but I didn't even get an email confirmation, and they are still inviting me to submit it in every single general email they send or when visiting their website.

Can someone tell me if they have any kind of confirmation that their number pairs have been recorded?

If not, I don't think it's very serious that one can't even lookup the data he has submitted or at least see somewhere that data has been recorded.

Thanks in advance!

PS: I feel a bit concerned because I use Safari on Mac OS X and there are sometimes weird things happening, although I remember getting a displayed confirmation upon registering the numbers.

I had this problem myself some time ago. I applied for the Privilege > Miles and More transfer, got a browser message saying the application was received, but then nothing. So after about 6-8 weeks, I sent an e-mail to the Privilege customer support team and they replied me the application was recorded in my Privilege profile and the miles would be transferred in October. They would also send me a Miles and More membership card to my post address.

IT IS URGENT THAT MILES&MORE MANAGEMENT LOOK INTO THIS MATTER OF CREDIT CARD AND SEND CONFIRMATION THAT THE 'MIGRATION APPLICATION' IS OK to all who have applied. Belgium could be the only country where you cannot accumulate miles on your national airlines carrier frequent flyer program while using credit cards !

If you go to the Privilege website and you try to re-register when you have already registered previously, a message will appear saying that you have already registered. Thus, no worry!
