11 killed in private plane crash in northern Brazil

Brasilia - Eleven people died when a private plane crashed on landing at an airport in the northern Brazil state of Bahia, rescue officials said. The accident occurred in a heavy rainstorm as the King Air 350 plane was landing at the Trancoso private airfield Friday night, Lieutenant Gilmar Santos of the fire and rescue brigade said.

He said the plane exploded upon impact, killing all 11 people on board, including four children.

The web portal Internet Radar 64 said the victims included Roger Wright, owner of the plane and an investment firm, who was travelling with his wife an two children. Four other passengers and three crew members also died.
