Could this be the same airplane I saw abort final approach around 8.00 AM, banking left to cross the E40 at Leuven?

C-GPAT is the same aircraft that experienced control difficulties shortly after takeoff from Varadero, Cuba on March 6th, 2005 on a scheduled passenger flight to Quebec City. The decision was made to return to the origin airport, and upon landing, it was discovered that the majority of the Airbus' rudder had torn away from the vertical stabilizer.

Let me get some facts right :

CGTSF came in with indication the landing gear was not extended, thus the fly-by for visual confirmation.

After landing, crew stopped the a/c on the rwy, and pax were deplaned. A/c was towed to the HG41 for further offload.

Left main gear was damaged and some oil was leaking from nose landing gear.

CGPAT was rerouted ex LGW (TSC395) to pick up stranded pax.

Talked to the 2 canadian technicians working on the plane in front of H41 yesterday evening, they said it was the first time that such a problem occured with the rear left landing gear on an a310. They said an inspection by airbus is expected on monday.
