Bankruptcy protection (Concordat) for Sobelair next monday?

Post by OO-VEX »

Hello,

Sobelair will probably ask for a concordat next monday. The charter company hasn't found the necessary investors. SLR needs about 10 million Euro's.
When the concordat will be approved, there is a plan to save a part of the business through Birdy.
The VTM reporter said Birdy would take over 2 planes for long haul flight, 5 for medium haul flights. SNBA would take the A333s which Birdy is now operating for them. This plan can only work when Birdy gets a contract from touroperator TUI/Jetair and Thomas Cook. If the plan works, only 50% of the SLR staff will have a job in the future.

This is very bad news for Sobelair.

This news doesn't come as a suprise. I really hope (like liebensd and OO-VEX told) that their will be a take-over by an other company...
I prefer a belgium company...

I want to support the people who work with Sobelair. Don't give up...
We'll all hope for better (aviation)times...

with respect,

greatings,

Sobelair into birdy, very easy now to get rid off your old employees, too much paid and too unionised..........try our new bankruptcy procedure.....

Of course the airline will only need 200 staff, and not even sure that those 200 will all come from slr,tui will take control and put his own people,at least slr survived two more years than sabena did....

Very bad news to start 2004 after the good one from snba.......but it is just a matter of time to announce the vex snba merger

Why is everyone thinking that a vex snba merger would create a low cost airline like vex?
I would think a bigger SNBA is also a possibility!

This is what SLR said according to RTBF radio and radio contact:

- The news that has been published by VTm is totaly false.
- SLR has enough cash until the end of January.
- The unions (syndicat) aren't aware of anything.
Return to SLR topic please
Yes, I'm sorry

and who'll pay the bill ... the elder crewmembers and cockpitcrew...

Why on earth is it so difficult in aviation to accept seniority and experience above pretty face and nice legs... grrrr

I hope that all SLR colleages get a good alternative...

All the best to you... I hope to meet one of you soon in an aircraft

I hope it will work out all right for slr employees.

Would be great if half of them can restart with the take-over-company and the other half with Sunrise Tui Belgium.

Wish all the best to my friends at SLR.

with sympathy,

Well, it doesn' t come as a surprise, although
I kept hoping for some better news. Probably
my contract to do my practical work (stage) at Sobelair
will be canceled, although I do hope I can stay.
So It will be a stressy month for me, because I have
exams and probably (wich I do not hope) have to seek
a new place to do my practical work.

Please let them find a good solution!!
not only for me, bur for every employee

Well maybe the bankrupt of Sobelair is planned long before. It is just a thought, but why would TUI announce a new charter airline if they have enough with Sobelair. Maybe it is the intension of some people to let Sobelair bankrupt and start a whole new company.

And why Sobelair leased 2 737-800's if they are in trouble. I can imagine that leasing a 737-800 costs more then leasing a 737-400 for example. Maybe the management made some wrong decisions.

Although I think it is over with Sobelair. There are no investors who want to invest in a ship that has already been sunk (don't know if this is correct English  ) Maybe it's better to start a new Charter company that is quite healthy. And this works, see SNBA. Would it not be better to have only one charter airline in Belgium. Why not a merger between TUI (Jetair) en Thomas Cook Belgium.

We will see what the future holds, but for sobelair (like it exists now), I don't think that it has a future.

Greetzz!

You do not marry enemies! Furthermore the EU would not allow it: competition is needed.

It is rumored that Rob Kuijpers, Chairman of SN BA, is leaving for a vacation today on a Sobelair flight.

At the moment when Sobelair is discussing its future with SN BA, Birdy and TUI/Jetair ?
