Re: Brussels Airlines loses daily flight to Kinshasa
Speaking of Hewa Bora, I hear that one of the BAe 146s that had been intended for AirDC, OO-MJE, has left BRU and gone to CGN, now minus the AirDC logo. Does anyone know what is planned for her? Lease to another operator?

When taking off yesterday morning from 25R, I think I have seen the two AirDC still at the parking, together with a few other SN 4-engined.

Hewa Bora expected that they would be unbanned in the new EU-blacklist - but they're not. "Wednesday's new blacklist is a problem for us", says Dirk Cramers (Hewa Bora Kinshasa) to De Standaard. Hewa Bora is blacklisted because all airlines under supervision from D.R.Congo's CAA are banned.Atlantis wrote:http://www.standaard.be/Artikel/Detail. ... 090409_033
They are now looking for a wet lease. Quite urgent, as they're already selling tickets in D.R.Congo for flights as from May.
"It will not be Gabon Airlines", Cramers told DS. Strange, as TR-LHP is not banned in the EU. Indeed: 767-200ER, aka EC-JOZ, Bravo Airlines (Spain). Airfleets.net mentions a/c is now stored by Air Ivoire at MIA?

Perception is guided by intentions and expectations.
What could possibly convince Hewa Bora that they would be removed from the blacklist to the point that they didn't work on a "plan B" ? Amazing how naive these guys can be...
The problem is not just the airlines, but the DRC CAA too. ICAO said they were pleased by the efforts made by the DRC CAA, but obviously it's still not enough to convince the EU.

Heba Bora are a joke really.
This latest saga just demonstrates the mentality this airline has: no long term commitments, no regard to regulations, no contingency planning... They are just the cowboys of the skies.
If you see all this, it becomes ever more incredible SN believed them to be a trustworthy partner for their joint venture 'Air DC'!
A sidenote:
I think 'De Standard' has it wrong once again, just like when they reported SN had to discontinue its daily flight all together. As far as I know, the bilateral between Belgium and RDC does not forsee in 2x5 weekly slots like 'De Standaard' writes, but rather 1x7 daily (spread out as 5 for the Belgian designated carrier and 2 for a carrier from the RDC). This risks posing a problem if HBA actually does manage to send a plane to BRU, since the 2 slots reserved for the RDC would then be used twice, since they are also rented out by LAC to SN!
Seems to me like somebody at the Ministery of Aviation of the RDC has managed to make 2 carriers believe they have been designated to make use of the rights on the route... Need I say that it probably has something to do with the brown envelope with unknown content which has been accompanying the formal requests from both candidates and which surprisingly disappeared after the approval?
One of them is going to be in for a surprise the moment they set course to BRU though, wonder which one it is going to be?

Obviously Stavros' persecution complex hasn't improved lately. At least that's a standard that you can rely on in these trying times of corporate decay and dramatic changes.
I find particularly amusing that he makes comments on a system that obviously he doesn't understand or even know.
