More then 50% is indeed a lot. Is there a possibility that you can have the exact figures from LGG itselfs?
I don't think that TCA and Jetairfly increased their flights. What about the other pax carriers?
that situation has few to do with charter flights
it is simply because the scheduled flights to TLV, PRN and TIA have begun after january last year
According to airliners.net Scanderbeg Air will start passengersflight (!) from their homebase New York JFK to Pristina en Tirana via Liège. Flights will be operated with a Boeing 767-200ER (Tail Number N712AX; ex-B-2551 from China airlines)that is currently undergoing maintenance C-Check to be ready for the summer-season.The flights will be JFK-PRN-LGG-JFK and JFK-TIA-LGG-JFK.They are talking that Liège will be just a short fuelstop before starting the transatlantic leg, so probably no possibility for passengers to board in Liège. No news about frequencies and start of the flights. The news is confirmed by Mr Ujkaj, Scanderbeg Air Executive Director.
Isn't Liège a strange place for a technical stop on this particular route? I mean a technical stop must be for refuelling in the first place, so wouldn't it be most economical to make it as close to half way as possible, perhaps in Shannon?
So this is all about the runways of TIA and PRN that are too short to handle a full loaded plane to JFK ?

and Belle Air too (they are Albanian - and Kosovar - people and have surely links to that american businessman who is about to start the company)
but, in my eyes, Shannon is not beiing used, because it would be necessary to fill the tanks more than for LGG !!!! what they just want to avoid for Toff in TIA and PRN !!!!!!!!!
A little bit late, I'm affraid. The Dutch Tax is cancelled, FR will expand more on Eindhoven and Maastricht, Weeze is very popular by Dutch travellers and Brussels Airport took away some many thousands (Dutch travellers driving to Brussels Airport or took one of several bus services between The Netherlands and Brussels Airport).
What will be the situation at LGG when the new summer season start? Thomas Cook and Jetairfly don't expand (so you can only fill the gaps). Bell Air will offer 3 more flights a week. Are there other pax carriers with expanding plans?
I don't think that LGG wants to compete those ryanair airports or the much bigger BRU.
LGG is and will stay a small player in the pax market, it's mainly a charter/holiday airport but it can probably attract more people from Holland just by better advertising the airport to the tour operators. It should be able to increase to 1 million pax / year within 5 years after the crisis.
The pax is only a bonus for LGG, the core business remains the cargo of course.

I fully agree...
nevertheless, every additional passenger is welcome: every airport operator is keen to accept new passegers !!!!!!!!

Pffieew! Seen the public reader's reactions to that article? Judging by their (in)ability in foreign languages, I had no high opinion of the level of intelligence in French-speaking Belgium, generally. Always allowing for exceptions, of course. But the grossness exposed there is really painful. Must I really share one country with this kind of idiots? And this is La Libre, considered a quality newspaper, almost French-speaking Belgium's counterpart to "The Times". What kind of reader's reactions do they get in the tabloids? La dernière Heure, or so? Or perhaps they get none, for lack of an audience able to write?
Excuse me if this may sound provoking, but I am really shocked by those reader's reactions. Admins please feel free to remove the present, if required.

Good news for Spa aerodrome, I should think. Will they now be able to clear the trees on 23 departures/05 arrivals? It seems a general tendency for venture capitalists to move into G/A aerodromes, saw some impressive examples last weekend in Biggin Hill and Shoreham. Not a real progress from a spotter's point of view!
But it would seem to me that Liège Bierset attracts very little G/A, and what there is does not really disturb operations. After all it is not THAT busy an airport, I should think? Actually Spa may have as much G/A traffic as Bierset, given the hordes of helicopters at each GP happening at nearby Francorchamps circuit.

It will never be removed from this forum, don't worry, this is a place where people's don't talk aviation but talk about politics, and the more you bash the french speaking the better it is....
And if you are shocked by what's the last guy is saying in it's comment, I'm not and I totally agree with him,if you really want to know,jonge...
LGG receive 2095pax from Business aviation (13.6% of Belgian volume). Not that much, and as you say, the airport is not really busy ...
Not sure that those a/c could land in Spa anyway ...
I believe this is just some walloon gov trick to give the mgmt of Spa airport to some people who already know the business. And maybe share the knowledge ...
Regarding the comments on "La libre" ... it's just a few green minded people who only see their garden as future for the planet. It's a bit easy to make a conclusion just on that

I had no high opinion of your level of intelligence too, Mr Jan. And if it's just for read this sort of comments, I understand their inability in foreign languages, You're not better with this kind of stupid mentality.
