lol if you learn history like that in school, I understand why this country is a mess now
Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
I don't want to start a debate about Flanders vs Walloon, but, it's again (not the first one) a very strange reaction of André Antoine. Was he not the person who accused Brussels Airport, the Flemisch government and the Flemisch bureau of tourism in the case Hainan Airlines? Was it not the same person who wanted Hainan airlines on CRL soil? A lot of french communities are against the LCT at Brussels Airport.
It is indeed ridiculous. We are living in one country but, and I said this before, the competition between the airports is very hard but the way the airport can work and the rules for running an airport is not the same and that's the biggest problem.

These rules are the competence of the Regions; each region makes its own rules, and is entitled to do so. The airports are not of a Federal competence any more ...Atlantis wrote: We are living in one country but, and I said this before, the competition between the airports is very hard but the way the airport can work and the rules for running an airport is not the same and that's the biggest problem.
The regions request and even demand new and enlarged competences, to be taken from the Federal. That is the present trend, anyway.
(I hope that Luchtzak won't become a political or linguistic battlefield ?)
Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
Do you find it normal that each region - Brussels, Flanders and Walloon, has its own rules and noise restrictions and this in a very small country? This means in practice that one airport can grow at 100% + attracting the most fuel eating airplane, most noisiest and old planes. And an other airport can't grow anymore due to the noise restrictions of the other regions.
We are fighting everyday against this. Funny is something else.

I'm sorry, maybe you should have gone to a better school.flightlover wrote:Do not forget that only since flamisch politicians got a grip on the parlement we finaly got rid of the french rulers that ruled over Flamisch speaking people. And by doing this we finaly again got prosperes again.
It's a basic history lesson you got in first grade middle school.

Ask the people of Trier about Luxembourg airport. Pretty much the same problem. We don't have the monopoly of airports near a border ...
But i'm not sure they only goal is to destroy the other one. Here, it is... on both sides.

But that's not the point. So stop bashing on ppl that make mistakes when writing a non native language. You ain't perfect either, or ARE YOU?
Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
I was bashing your history lesson, not your English. I will never mock someone doing the effort of speaking in another language.flightlover wrote: But that's not the point. So stop bashing on ppl that make mistakes when writing a non native language. You ain't perfect either, or ARE YOU?
Going back to the subject, I think we should have European rules to regulate the whole airline/airport business. That way, everybody would be playing with the same rules and you couldn't try to freeze a runway extension if this satisfied to the European legislation. Europe has some way to go...

Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
Thanks for the map, Acid. What has become of the military installations? ISTR Bierset is the main base for Belgian military helicopters?
Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
it's not on the plan, but the idea was to move the military base more on the north, and build an helistrip.
don't know the status of the project ...

Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
More then 50% is indeed a lot. Is there a possibility that you can have the exact figures from LGG itselfs?Acid-drop wrote:I don't have a clue how LGG did manage to increase that much their pax figures in january ...

I don't think that TCA and Jetairfly increased their flights. What about the other pax carriers?
