I think the pilot was drunk that moment!
And indeed a stunning take-off!

That's indeed a really short take-off.

Almost every weekend I see a Cargolux 747 doing such take off at MST.
They fly empty back to LUX and sometimes we say to eachother that the pilots make it a game who make the earliest take off.

Best Regards,
Yvo

Maybe we could introduce this takeoff procedure to our minister of transport as a solution for all the complaints against the noise at night at BRU.

Planes can take off like this and will only start their steep climb above the royal palace in Laken in order to disturb as less people as possible.

That's a very military way to fly. Lift off gain speed then zoom climb to altitude.

Alert Lightnings used to climb almost vertically upon reaching the runway end but this caused problems to the runway surface from the afterburners!

Best Regards,
Indeed very impressive .... however be assured that (I hope so) it's not a game but calcullations have been made within safety limits.

I have seen 757s put in impressive take offs, both at LHR and GLA. They only had a short take off run, and they had a very steep climb away on both occasions. Pity I didn't have my video camera then.

Wow!!!
Seems to me that they did some training or testing, because they'd never do this with people on board. Their climb is much too steep for that. (exceeding the 15° limit)

I'm impressed by the power of the Airbus!!

This probably was when Eurowings got their first 319's.

Sonny, I would have to say .... grow up (see also my previous message regarding this movie), but I will take your sentence as a ... fingertrouble on your keyboard.

Moreover, the pilots are well knowing what they are doing. Just watch the speed they are picking-up before their lift-off.
As I mentioned, well callculated and nice performance by the pilots ! !

WOW that's an awsome movie
Thanks for the great download Bart (MD-11) :P

The plane is definately empty at that moment, I cannot imagine a loaded plane doing this. BTW this take off reminds me of those I saw at Le Bourget :)
exceeding the 15° limit
The limit is 20° Body attitude, and not 15° ;)

BTW the plane does not only exceed the body attitude limit but also the bank angle limit which is 30°. Anyway those are all limits which have to be applied when carrying passengers.

Ciao

nice takeoff

Post by Arvidius »

it's always a fun feeling to be pressed in the seat at take-off
I wonder what he climb speed is, and how long the plane can maintain that angle of climb without stalling ...

That is impressive footage (I've only just seen it because it didn't work the other day when I tried it on the college computer).

Does anyone know where the film was taken?
