What is the destination of the Air Canada A340-500s

Post by Scoezie »

Air Canada orderd some A340-500, but now they seem not deliverd to Air Canada but stored in Chateauroux (France). The planes are
F-WWTH: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/381432/L/
F-WWTJ: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/381431/L/

What is the destination of these aircrafts, will they finally deliverd to Air Canada, or are they waiting a new costumer? Why Airbus puts 2 brand new A340-500s to store, they can also repaint the aircrafts en deliver them to another company that has orders A340-500s?

I think they will be delivered to Air Canada when the market starts picking up again. Just repainting and delivering to another company is not that easy: most likely the Air Canada interior is allready inside the plane.

I saw F-WWTJ when I was in CHR in the beginning of July.

What an extremely nice and elegant looking plane!

I sat in the big engine, amazing how shiny it still was... also the landing gear was still shining, brand new tyres, just fantastic!

AC will most probably not take them up, they are rumoured to go to EK now.

Note that Airbus pilots are currently training on those 2 AC A345's (and maybe SQ pilots too, not sure).

Destination?

Is it not more profitable for Airbus to reconfigure the A340-500s then, in place of keeping the brand nex machines as training airplanes. It think it is a shame for such new airplanes. And as you see the engines of one of the A340-500s are removed so no training with that airplane.

Is the reason that AC not picked up these planes, because of they are maybe bankrupt in time?

The pics from F-WWTJ show the plane during some testflights or training flights for upcoming A340 pilots.

But al least the plane does where its made for: Flying!!

P.S Note the Aeroflot A320 coming in on the first picture.
