Even better would be to nicely preserve a 747 at BRU so that it can be honoured and admired by future generations!
What about Brussels Airport creating an open air aviation museum, somewhere at the edge of the airport where there is area that is unlikely to be developed (e.g. Nossegem?)?
When you transit through Budapest Airport, it is such a great attraction to visit all the Malev Tupolevs and Ilyushins at the open air aviation museum, just outside of the terminal!

Actually, the story is slightly different..
OO-CBA got towed away from LHT... to make space for OO-CBB.
OO-CBB has been parked at LHT for the last few days, while OO-CBA has been sitting idle on position 903.
Indeed CBA has been parked in the middle of the cargo area all week.
With CBB and CBC flying in and out.
It was a nice situation on Friday with all 3 lined up next to each other.
The spot at the hanger was taken by a Southern Air 747, until late Friday when it was moved to the end of the cargo area, I guess its maintenance complete.
Why dont they move CBA to a quieter area perhaps on the other side.. surely it is taking up a valuable cargo a/c parking spot ?

CBB hasn't flown since Dec. 27 2008. This frame used as back-up when something goes wrong with CBC.
OO-CBA has been towed from the Hangar 40/41 area (where it had been standing for many months) up to the tarmac area of Brussels Airlines Technics in Melsbroek.
Yesterday the fleet of SN 146's had been moved over to the side of Lufthansa Technik to make space and now the 747 has been towed into the area where the 146's have been stored for about a year.

Exact same situation for the moment! They are also putting fences around the aircraft. Is this the beginning of the demolition of this aircraft?
Very nicely written report. I was surprised to see pilots going straight from an BAe146 to a B747! OK, both have four engines, but that's about the only similarity!
And then I hear from the CVR that the crew are speaking a soup of English, Dutch and French!
Tower 15:03:35 Report intentions, Cargo B3101
Commander 15:03:38 (to ATC) Our intentions, tell us the problem ?
Tower 15:03:42 It seems you had a tail strike
Kudo's to the flight engineer though. He seems to have done a great job maintaining situational awareness and making the right call like the powercheck, which probably prompted the FO to firewall the throttles.
I'm not sure the gear up call wasn't too early from an operational point of view, but I would probably have done the same considering that having the gears out while crashing into the city would be of little relief.
