Continental flight veers off Denver runway, injures dozens

Passengers say the plane started to take off, then dropped with a jolt and landed in a ravine, catching on fire and forcing the 112 aboard to evacuate.

Contintal B735 skid off RWY @ DEN: 38 injured

Boeing 737-500 reg N18611 skidded of runway in Denver last night. Aircraft caught fire, but al 115 passengers and crew have been able to exit the plane. 38 are injured, 26 have been taken to hospitals. Weather was good, only some wind gusts to 36 kts. RWY 34R and whole DEN airport have been closed for some time, but are now open again.

A very lucky escape, but were all the media at Christmas parties?

No they were all too busy following our new soon to be president around like a rock star ;)

Rumor mill in IAH is

1 the engine had a flame out
2 the right engine loss a fan blade which caused a fire and loss of power

We will know the real truth whenever the NTSB gets done with their investigation.
