Hi all,
I was booked to fly tomorrow monday from Brussels to Trieste via Rome on AlItalia (AZ 159 BRU-FCO, AZ 1361 FCO-TRS).
Yesterday evening, my travel partner got a phone call saying that our flights were cancelled. We seem to have been rebooked to fly on tuesday with SN to FCO and then with AirOne to TRS. I have two questions: 1) What is going on? I know that Alitalia is (or at least should be) restructuring, but it seems odd to me that the BRU-FCO would have been cancelled). And 2) I will be arriving a day late with all due problems (hotel booking, missing one day of an international conference I am supposed to be attending) is there a way to get some financial compensation from Alitalia for this?
Thanks in advance for any information.
Wim.

I know that since a few days they are cancelling several flights from BRU and other stations. I think the end is near... You should be able to get some compensation, but I think member LX-LGX can give you more info on that subject.
PS: You are lucky they informed you, the last few days I've seen several passengers who didn't recieve any update and their flights were cancelled as well.
