Re: BRU winter 2008-2009: latest news, routes, airlines
Anyone an idea about the loadfactor ?
Re: BRU winter 2008-2009: latest news, routes, airlines
Indeed, until yesterday it was a 77W, but starting 05NOV08 it is again loaded as 332. Currently in the system until at least september 2009. But it can change again, of course, as usual with 9W...Flying-Belgian wrote:That's strange then, because I've read on some blogs that 9W has revised that decision and therefore keeps the A330 to KJFK. And 9W's website gives me an A330 for november, december,... and even untill march.Atlantis wrote: It is confirmed and loaded in the system that the JFK route by 9W will be upgraded to a B777.
The same for BLR with 4 flights a week on days 1567.
Pretty sure they will wetlease the three 77Ws.

HAINAN moving to Charleroi would be a great blow to BRU.

Not if Star Alliance member AIR CHINA is taking over this route with an A332/A343 or B772 , and adding other key destinations in ChinaJOVAN wrote:HAINAN moving to Charleroi would be a great blow to BRU.

Here's one It's in Dutch, but says that Hainan is one of three potential investors in Charleroi. They propose to build their own international terminal there.Lol, i'd like to have the source too

Will they be code-sharing with SN or are they withdrawing? The code-share could make sense as Air One is loosely tied to LH. But now that I think of it, it seems AP is getting firmly bond to AZ... No wonder then.Boeing767copilot wrote:As from nov 20 AirOne will stop BRU-FCO

Sad day for 9W-operations at BRU...
Effective 21JAN09, Jet Airways will downgrade BOM-BRU-EWR from 77W to 332.
Effective 12JAN09, it will cancel BLR-BRU services.

What a shame... Another Boeing heavy replaced by an Airbus...sdbelgium wrote:Sad day for 9W-operations at BRU...

But understandable. Maybe 9W counted on taking some of the BRU-EWR market from CO, but they sustain a highly profitable load on the flight. And with both CO and SN entering Star Alliance in the future, CO will only increase their presence on the BRU-NYC market.
Re: BRU winter 2008-2009: latest news, routes, airlines
I thought those EWR flights from 9W were always packed!?

Packed is a big word.
They are doing reasonably well and when you see their transfer pax standing in line for boarding, it looks as if every seat on board will have to be taken to take all people in, but in fact their load factors are just average in the industry, which means around 70%.
Same for basically any other airline, BTW.
Don't be fooled into thinking an airline upgrading to 77W always had full A330s before.
They could, but most of the times they just anticipate once there aren't enough open seat left.
Remember you need open seats for pax on fully flexible tickets too and a plane booked with 90%+ loadfactor throughout the year isn't offering you any flexibility.
I am sure Conti can tell you more about the precise factors taken into account to up- and downgrade to/from 777 as Continental Airlines also does it at BRU, despite always having more than enough open seats, so it seems.

I am not working for Continental, I just like the company, that's it...tolipanebas wrote: I am sure Conti can tell you more about the precise factors taken into account to up- and downgrade to/from 777 as Continental Airlines also does it at BRU, despite always having more than enough open seats, so it seems.
I base my opinions on the fact that the gate area of B40 is always pretty full with pax when CO is about to board and the info I got from Airliners.net. They have some pretty decent corporate agreements with some companies who are responsible for filling BuissenisFirst (Johnson&Johnson being on of the majors).
They didn't loose many pax to Jet Airways and I am pretty sure they will start a second daily rotation once they join Star Alliance, together with SN.
I have also heard that if CO didn't need the T7 on longer routes, the route probably wouldn't have been downgraded to 764 again last year. They managed to have pretty good loads on the T7 throughout the year with even some overbookings in high seasons.
BRU is supposed to be one of their top revenue routes out of Europe, mainly because the agreements they have with some major companies.
