The best commuter aircraft
Wich one is your favourite commuter aircraft? I think the Dornier 328 especially in Welcome air colors, nice design in happy colors!

The Fokker props get my vote, mainly because they're the only ones in the list I've been on, but I have found them quite comfortable, easy for viewing and the VLM ones are very comfortable with leather seats and 32" pitch.
I also like the ATR types, but that's more for their photogenic qualities, same for the Dorniers. The Saab 2000 is also a favourite video subject of mine, for its awesome take off performance (superb rate of climb for a prop).

Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

I am sorry but I can't understand why 2 people allready voted for ATR 42/72 !!
All my planes that I have flown with that ugly non-aircraft looking piece of scrap was my worst experience!!
I remember that after 'engines off' the passengers where not allowed to stand up before the tail-prop (metal object to stick in the tail of the plane to prevent it tilting over) was installed, small seat-pitch, in your rear galley you had to move some passenger-bags before you could have access in some of the trolleys and if you where lucky you could welcome 150 kgs of sandbags in the back of the plane!!

Hi Bart,
One of the non-understandable people was me
Well, I had approx 80 flights with an ATR-42/72 of FU and EW and for such a small person like me it's very comfortable (except the experience the EU Commisioner of agriculture had the seat nearby me, that was thuna-experience but not the fault of the ATR, but maybe because of his over-weight)
and in comparison to an Embraer or Saab 2000 the overhead bin's for your hand luggage are quite comfortable (you can place there a normal sized trolley without any difficulties not so in an Embraer and of course the overheads of an CRJ are even smaller), so what you have against an ATR ? it's a little bit slow - ok - but even comfortable
Jumbolino.

My vote will also go the the ERJ series of Embrear.
Really good looking aircraft and their are really comfortable to fly.
I flew sometimes in the EMB145 of KLM Exel and the plane is really stable in the air and you got enough space to store your luggage and other stuff. And almost no noise in the cabin.
I agree with Bart on the ATR42/72. I had several flights on these machines and I just don't like flying with them. The cabin is noisy and everything around you is shaking due to the vibrations of the props.
Best Regards,
Yvo

Well, if you have to put sand bags in the plane to balance it, then you have a problem with the design (In my opinion).
You Loose Cargo space, and burn more fuel just to be able to balance the plane correctly. Seems to be a strange solution
I think it would have been better to solve the problem when building the plane.
Ciao
