Ryanair closes Valencia base as from 4 Nov 2008

It seems to be overviewed that the Ryanair flights to Valencia serve not only the foreign people who want to go to Valencia, but also the Valencian people who want to go abroad. With the low-cost carrier out of VLC, they have only the high-cost option (and, to go out of Spain, most of the time, they'll have to take a connecting flight somewhere). Too bad for them.
The Ryanair customers are allegedly only pennyless people, hard drinkers and nogooders.
I have logged more than 200 flights on Ryanair, and I can say that the Ryanair users are perfectly normal and decent people; a good many cities are glad to welcome them, for instance Rome, Madrid, London - cities who are at least as prestigious as Valencia, I think.
Speaking of Valencia : it's rather a pretty provincial town, but certainly not a "must be seen" city; there a quite a multitude of towns, in Spain and elsewhere, that are at least as interesting , and a lot who are more attractive than Valencia. It won't be missed that much !

On the very first page of Ryanair booking website, after you have selected the flight, you are asked to check a box to certify that you have read and accept Ryanair's terms and conditions.
If you find them unacceptable, unlawful, illegal and what else - then, you don't check the box, and the reservation procedure does not go any further.
If you find them fair enough, you check the said box and you complete your booking.
Nobody is forced to take a Ryanair flight ! if you don't like it, leave it.
Moreover, "Convention entre les parties fait loi", as they say in French : an agreement between the parties is as good as a law ...

They may say so, in French. They say many things, in French.
And I must admit there is some logic to it.
But, again, "sed lex dura lex": the court will NOT say so, not even in French.
Whatever people agree, if it is not lawful than the agreement is void.

Many more companies fly to Valencia. So I don't think it will affect them that much and don't forget that no all Ryanair routes will dissapear from VLC, only the ones who were done with the three planes Ryanair had based in VLC.

As I said before I am myself a frequent Ryanair traveller and I don't consider me alcoholic, pennyless and nogooder. But I must admit that the mayority of Ryanair travellers are young people who try not to spend to much on their holidays. Maybe it's not your case.

So good many cities should bent right away for Ryanair? If Ryanair sais they want money the "good cities" should say: "Ofcourse O'Leary, whatever you say O'leary, here is your money! Please don't go now from our airport. " Please I don't think things work that way. And I'm glad Valencia didn't bent for these ungracefull way of doing business. I also remember that in Rome Ryanair had some problems with Ciampino. If I remember good they wanted to close the airport before a certain hour at night which was a move totally against Ryanair. So I don't think that Rome should be cited as a city who loves Ryanair.

It is your total right to have this opinion about Valencia. I'm sure their are many nicer and as nice places around the world and in Spain.
