Wizz Air launches new flights from Poznan to Dortmund
Wizz Air announced today that it would start new flights from Poznan to Dortmund. The airline already connects Dortmund to its other Polish destinations and this one will become the fifth Wizz Air route from the German city.
The first flight between Poznan and Dortmund will take off on 1 October, 2007 and will be operated 3 times a week initially. Tickets for the flights are already on sale on the airline’s website, wizzair.com or by calling the Wizz Air call centre on +48 22 351 94 99.
Regular one way fares start from as low as EUR 19.99 one way, including taxes and charges.
Natasa Kázmér, Head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs of Wizz Air said: ‘We are delighted to be able to make another extension to our network from Poland. Dortmund is already a very popular destination for many Wizz Air passengers flying from Katowice, Warsaw, Gdansk and Wroclaw. The new flight will contribute to the increasing business relations between the two cities as well as boost tourism in both regions.”

Looks like the campaign is going from strength to strength :D

1 based WIZZ aircraft with more to follow, increased services on existing routes, and 4 new routes!
  • Olso (Torp) Number 9 on the wish list
Glasgow (Prestwick) Number 11 on the wish list
Malmo Number nowhere on the wish list
Doncaster / Sheffield Bit of a random one
But I'm sure all will do well, even if they wouldn't have been my first choice of potential Poznan routes....

I did come. For the first time in 1984, when Poznan was served only by LOT An-24s from Warsaw, which I reached from Brussels with a LOT Tu-134....

Good old times....

let's look at the list:

1. Rome - Rome Ciampino
2. Barcelona
3. Paris - Paris Beauvois
4. Amsterdam
5. Athens
6. Stockholm - Stockholm Skavsta
7. Milan [Northern Italy]
8. Goteborg
9. Oslo - Oslo Torp
10. Brussels
11. Edinburgh/Glasgow - Glasgow Prestwick and Edinburgh
12. Madrid
13. London Gatwick/Heathrow
14. Frankfurt Hahn
15. Helsinki
16. Lisbon
17. Prague
18. Vienna
19. Krakow
20. Cork
21. Shannon
22. Gdansk
23. Moscow
24. Dortmund
25. Stuttgart
26. Zurich
27. New York

Doncaster - Sheffield sounds very good as well as Malmoe, which will be popular also for Danish. Any UK and Ireland destination from/to Poznan will bring big profits for airlines. Demand for such connections is very big due to Polish workers living in these countries.

@sn26567

We are waiting for Poznan-Brussels! So you could come back easy and fast and have a look at modern Poznan. It has changed from your last visit :D Would be very nice to dicover it again :) Would be nice to hear your impressions from that visit as well :)

We are in touch with Polish people from Poznan and Wielkopolska region who are working in EU institutions. They also claim that demand for Brussels-Poznan is very big. We need to have connection with capital of EU!!!

Congrats!

But aren't most of these flights for polish immigrants living and working in the areas newly served? Tourism will be a by-product I suppose but rather small!

LOng live the VFR market

:) Barcelona 8)

For sure majority of passengers are now Polish immigrants. However it is a matter of good advertisment. If it will be done more tourists will visit the city. What we want to do here in Poznan, is to push our authorities to make a real promotion of the city!

We do not only talk and talk what has to be done, we also take reality into our hands :)

This Saturday first flight of Wizzair from Poznan to Stockholm Skavsta will take place. We are organising a hot welcome! :)
And together with the airline we are doing some promotion - in Poznan and in Stockholm :) Very strange persons will fly to Sweden and take a part of Polish Day in Stockholm ;) :D

I will inform you about it :)

In part it is a matter of changing some attitudes. I think Poles do travel pretty much as tourists either, but usually the air travel is not a preferred one, many choose road instead. And it can be a very bad option, as some accidents with Polish buses and cars suggest (like the one near Grenoble recently).

From CH-Aviation:

Centralwings (C0/Warsaw) will add several new services to its network this winter season:

Poznan-Edinburgh: 3x weekly service starting on October 28
Poznan-Paris Beauvais: 2x weekly service starting on October 31
Poznan-Rome Ciampino: 2x weekly service starting on November 1

Seems that Poznan is getting more and more additional flights.
